The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Arson
April 13
Dario Salas, 40, of Addison, was charged with two counts of arson in the 500 block of W. Lake at 1:14 a.m. Police said officers responded to the above location for a report of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, a black Audi A4 was located fully engulfed in flames. The fire department responded to extinguish the fire. Upon investigation, it was learned that the Salas allegedly poured fuel onto the car and fled the scene. Officers were able to locate the suspect near Lake and Route 83 and took him into custody. Criminal damage, criminal trespass
April 11
A complainant in the 800 block of S. Route 83 related that while checking and cleaning the parking lot, she noticed the fence on the south end of the parking lot had been cut.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, disturbance
April 10
Police said officers responded to the 200 block of W. Armitage at 9:47 p.m. for the report of a disturbance. The reporting officer made contact with the complainant who reported she had been pushed down by one of her tenants. The complainant did not wish to sign complaints and both parties agreed to separate.
April 9
A 34-year-old Clarendon Hills woman was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 600 block of W. North at 4:29 a.m. Police said that subsequent to a call for a verbal domestic at a gas station, the suspect ripped the victim’s coat and caused a laceration to his thumb after an argument.
A 21-year-old Addison woman was charged with DUI, two counts of domestic battery, trespass to a vehicle, improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident near North and Villa at 4:40 a.m. Police said it was learned the suspect took the vehicle without permission and battered her girlfriend in Villa Park and Elmhurst.

April 11
Fernando Zamudio, 31, of Elgin, was charged with DUI, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, illegal transportation of open alcohol and improper lane usage, while Hubaldo Alvarez, 31, of Wonder Lake, was issued a citation for illegal transportation of open alcohol in the 500 block of S. York at 4:29 a.m.
April 10
Isaiah Bell, 19, of Elgin, and several juveniles, were issued citations for consumption of alcohol by a minor in the 300 block of N. Route 83 at 1:17 a.m.
Joseph Galloro, 32, of Lombard, was issued a citation for possession of liquor in public in the 500 block of S. York at 4:24 a.m.
Manuel Musso, 43, of Villa Park, was charged with DUI, speeding and no valid driver’s license subsequent to a traffic stop near North and I-290 at 7:07 p.m.
April 9
Jose Carrillo-Garcia, 31, of Addison, was charged with DUI and possession of open alcohol near Grand and Oaklawn at 1:48 a.m.
Harassment, threats
April 13
The victim, a delivery driver for Dunkin Donuts, reports the suspect was taking pictures of his truck and him in the 500 block of W. North at 8:37 a.m. The suspect then started to approach the victim. The victim told the suspect not to approach him. The suspect stated he was not afraid because he has guns. The suspect then left the area in a white Chevy Impala. An investigation is pending.
A complainant at Elm Creek Drive related at 4:27 p.m. that the suspect has been harassing her through text messages and Instagram. The complainant does not want the suspect to contact her in any way. The suspect was advised to have no further contact with the victim and he stated he understood.
Possession of cannabis in a vehicle
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported four incidents of unlawful possession of cannabis in a vehicle by a driver or a passenger: Jose Rivera, 61, of Chicago, near Hawthorne and St. Charles on April 9; Kevin Alcantara, 22, of Bolingbrook, near York at First on April 9; Dalton Reese, 22, of Franklin Park, in the 600 block of W. North on April 9; Osvaldo Prado, 21, of Chicago and Jessica Apaez, 21, of Northlake, near Spring and Butterfield on April 9

April 11
Monica Rosales, 47, of Bensenville, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving while license suspended, unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, operating a vehicle while using an electronic communication device and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near I-290 and N. York at 6:10 p.m.
Theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery
April 13
Retail theft was reported at a convenience store in the 500 block of S. Spring at 7:30 p.m. A complainant related that an unknown suspect described as a white male between 16 and 20 years old picked up a case of White Claw beverages and exited the store without paying for the merchandise.
A vehicle was reported stolen in the 200 block of E. Butterfield at 8:37 p.m. A victim related she left her 2011 white Toyota Sienna unattended and running in the parking lot at the above location. Upon returning to the parking lot, she found her vehicle was missing. Officers located the vehicle traveling westbound on North Avenue before it fled northbound on I-355. An ISPERN message was broadcasted. The vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen.
Feb. 2, 2021-April 13
Theft was reported in the 100 block of Mayo. A victim met the suspect through family members and went into business with him on Feb. 2, 2021. The suspect stopped making payments on their business loan in February 2021. The victim has been unable to make contact with the suspect.
April 12
Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of E. Niagara at 12 noon. An unknown person(s) filed an income tax return using the victim’s identification. The victim has filed paperwork with the IRS disputing the filing.
April 11-April 12
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 100 block of E. Lake. A victim believes one of her children forgot to close the car door while it was parked at the above location. After looking in the vehicle, the victim realized her son’s baseball equipment was missing.
April 11
Fraud was reported in the 700 block of S. Stuart at 8:58 a.m. A victim told police he was messaging with a female by the name of Tina about Snow Coin/Stable Coin crypto currency to purchase with other individuals. The victim transferred money he had in his Bit Coin account to the Snow Coin account. When he attempted to remove the money, he was told he needed to put more money into the account. Over a period of a month. the money was slowly being taken out of his account.
Identity theft was reported in the 500 block of S. Hawthorne at 9:33 p.m. An unknown person(s) submitted a change on the victim’s direct deposit to a new bank. The form was never submitted by the victim’s manager so the changes did not take place.
Identity theft was reported in the 300 block of N. Maple at 3:34 p.m. Police said the owner of a business reports her credit card was used by unknown person(s) to purchase two Amazon gift cards.
April 10
Identity theft was reported in the 200 block of N. Highview at 10:04 a.m. A victim relates that an unknown person(s) opened a Wells Fargo Bank account using his information.
March 27-April 10
Burglary was reported in the 200 block of N. Addison. A victim told police that an unknown suspect entered his storage unit and removed paper products sometime between the above dates.
April 9
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 400 block of E. Lake at 2:54 p.m. A victim told police she put her purse on the front passenger seat floorboard. When she returned to her vehicle, her purse was gone. The victim was advised to contact her credit card companies, and her driver’s license was entered into LEADS.
April 7-April 8
Fraud was reported in the 200 block of E. Lake. A complainant relates four fraudulent checks were computer generated from the account of an Elmhurst business and made out to the suspects sometime between the above dates. An investigation is pending.
April 1-April 5
Identity theft was reported in the 500 block of W. North. While reviewing the financials of a local church, the pastor found two unauthorized pending withdrawals from the church’s bank accounts. The bank found a personal checking account in New Jersey was opened using the pastor’s personal information and linked to the church’s account.
March 31
Identity theft was reported in the 900 block of N. Virginia at 12:12 p.m. An unknown person(s) opened a Chase Bank checking account in the victim’s name.
