KIERAN MCNICHOLAS
Kieran “Mac” McNicholas, 64, longtime Lombard resident, passed away on April 16th, 2022.
Kieran was the loving husband of Lisa McNicholas, née Hillmann, his high school sweetheart. Beloved father of Mary Rose (David) Weber of Elmhurst, Kyleen McNicholas of Nashville, John (Sam) McNicholas of Wheaton; dear grandfather “Boompa” to William, Maddie and George Kieran; loving brother to Dennis J. (Karin) McNicholas, the late Kevin T. (Peggy) McNicholas, Maureen Ray the late Brian McNicholas; and most loving uncle of many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Mac was the proud owner of Mac’s Body Shop, which he founded in 1976 with his father. More recently, he had been semi-retired as he transitioned the business to his son, John. Mac was the master of projects, big and small. If you needed help, or were in a pinch, Mac was the one who you would call. He was always there when you needed something. He loved helping people and always had a way of “figuring it out.”
A proud 110 percent Irishman, Kieran knew how to make people smile. He opened his heart and home to anyone who needed him (stray dogs included), and had a way of turning friends into family. A wonderful story-teller, he told stories in a way that made you feel like you were there and a part of them. He had the biggest heart for others, demonstrated when he volunteered annually to play Santa for special needs children at Lisa’s work.
Kieran was involved around town as well. He was a member of the Lombard Moose Lodge. He volunteered many years at the Sacred Heart Germanfest. He was a proud member of the Lombard Jaycees. He had a love of Harley Motorcycles and snowmobiling in Hurley, Wisconsin. His magnetic personality and kind heart will be truly missed.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 22, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 114 S Elizabeth St., Lombard.
