Phyllis H. Crosley, 93

Phyllis H. Crosley, a longtime resident of Elmhurst, passed away March 15, 2022 at the age of 93. She was born May 28, 1928, in Chicago, to the late Henry and Harriet Crosley. She graduated from York High School in Elmhurst in 1946, and from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa in 1950.

Phyllis had a 28-year career at Illinois Bell. Her conscientious dedication made her a well-respected employee who rose to become one of the first women in an executive position in their regional office.

She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Elmhurst. In addition, she enjoyed her various travels throughout the world, and she was an avid reader.

Phyllis generously donated to numerous charities and causes, particularly those supporting food insecurity and children’s health and well-being. Her generosity could also be seen in how she used her time, volunteering countless hours at the Elmhurst Historical Museum and at her church.

Phyllis was a dear sister to the late Joan (the late Richard) Goller and the late Marjorie (John) Herder. She was a loving, doting aunt to Wendy (Michael) McPherrin, Denise (the late Bill) Kolar, Jill (Don) DeLarco, Jeanine (David) Layland, John (Sandi) Herder, Todd (Lisa) Herder, David (Susan) Herder; 16 great nieces & nephews; 21 great-great nieces & nephews; Funeral services will be private.
