In 1947 at the age of 17, she married John Richard Neely after his arrival home from serving with the U.S Army in Europe during WWII. Together they had three children. She will lovingly be remembered by her family as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Margaret loved life and was always looking for ways to make friends. She worked at National College of Chiropractic for 35 years in many capacities, ending her career as Director of Alumni Affairs. She also worked to serve people in need through the Outreach House.
Margaret took joy in her home. She was an avid gardener and her gardens were featured in Lombard’s annual Garden Walk. Most of all, she loved to sit on her front porch in the early morning and watch the neighborhood come to life. Often, friends and neighbors would stop by just to sit on the porch swing and visit a while.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Elizabeth, and her best friend and brother Wally. Her life will continue to be an inspiration to her children Daniel (Barb) Neely, Christine Neely, and Karen (Ron) Pieper.
