Edward-Elmhurst Health has been recognized by healthcare supply chain leader Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX) as a “Best 50” healthcare provider. For the past 14 years, GHX’s annual “Best 50” award spotlights the top North American hospitals and health systems based on their proven ability to improve operational performance while driving down costs through supply chain automation.
Most businesses intend to effectively manage the supply chain in order to increase profits through improved customer satisfaction and lower operating costs. Profits grow when costs are kept under control and reduced wherever possible. When raw material and production costs fall, so do operating costs. And most businesses hire professionals to do the job, such as a demand planner, who uses analytical and sales data to forecast future demand for a product or service for an organization. Businesses also use a variety of tools and software to automate these experts’ work.
However, implementing automation into the healthcare industry is even more important part of progress, since this will not only help staff but the patients who rely on what they do. It doesn’t just start and stop there, many other types of software are needed e.g. a staff roster app to help with efficiency, patient management software, etc. all of these together can help immensely in providing the best service.
Honorees were selected from a pool of more than 4,100 provider organizations connected to the GHX digital trading platform. The recipients will be recognized during an awards ceremony at the GHX Summit 22 on May 11. It is so important for the healthcare industry to be recognized for the changes that they have put out there to make it easier on the sector as well as the patients. Whether they have advanced their medical billing software through companies such as Gryphon Healthcare or made tweaks to patient communication, each change is essential in making the industry adaptable.
“The Edward-Elmhurst Health Supply Chain team has worked tirelessly to optimize its procure-to-pay process via the adoption of technology and the use of automation,” said Matthew Hess, P.T., MBA, South Region System Director – Supply Chain, NorthShore – Edward-Elmhurst Health. “This recognition of our operational performance by GHX validates the hard work of our talented supply chain team and represents an important milestone on a journey to reimagine our corporate supply chain processes that began nearly three years ago.”
