Several members of the Villa Park Police Department joined other area law enforcement officers to take part in the 2022 Polar Plunge at the Oak Brook Bath and Tennis Club on Saturday, March 19. The event’s participants took a brief plunge into an outdoor pond at the club during wet and chilly conditions. The Polar Plunge is a fundraiser for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois. The members of the Villa Park Police Department who took the plunge have raised over $8,700. Their fundraising efforts will continue through the end of March. Willowbrook High School Principal Dan Krause (not pictured in the above photo) joined the Villa Park Police Department team in the Polar Plunge. Krause first took part in the plunge in 2020, after Villa Park Detective Donald Giammarino—the resource officer at the school—spoke to him about making a donation to the team.
