Thursday, Feb. 10
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., State Rep. Deanne Mazzochi is hosting a blood drive and COVID testing event at her office at Westmont Centre, 1 S. Cass Avenue, Westmont. Walk-ins are welcome, but as a COVID-19 precaution and to save time, making an appointment for blood donation is strongly preferred. Beginning at 12:15 p.m. the Single Mothers will host another SHE event at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church, 149 W. Brush Hill Rd. Come and be inspired by speaker Jeff Klein, whose topic is “Walking with God.” Complimentary lunch and free childcare for ages 3-12 during the program.

At 4 p.m. in the Frick Center, Founders Lounge, Elmhurst University will present author and historian Michelle Duster, who will present the annual MLK Lecture. Admission: free but registration encouraged at elmhurst.edu/cultural. Program also available virtually. An access to the virtual event will be provided closer to event date. Tuesday, Feb. 22
Washington, DC Archbishop Wilton Gregory will present this year’s Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Lecture for Elmhurst University. The program will be presented remotely. Gregory’s talk will begin at 7 p.m. CST on Tuesday, Feb. 22. Admission is free but reservations are required at elmhurst.edu/cultural. From 6:30-8 p.m., the Elmhurst History Museum is hosting a Black History Month book discussion of The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration, with its author, Pulitzer Prize-winner and National Humanities Medal recipient, Isabel Wilkerson. The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, John Beasley’s MONK’estra and the Elmhurst University Jazz Band will be among the featured artists at the 55th Annual Elmhurst University Jazz Festival, which audiences can attend in person or remotely this year. At 7:30 p.m., Uli Widmaier will present a 60-minute Zoom lecture on the music that will be performed at the recital on Saturday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Congregation Etz Chaim in Lombard. (See below.)

• At 12 noon, the Elmhurst St. Patrick’s Day Parade returns to step off on Spring Road at Wilson Street. The 25th annual parade has been on hold for two years, thanks to COVID-19, but will return this year, as will the Elmhurst Armpit Orchestra.
• At 7:30 p.m., there will be a concert recital presented by professional musician and Elmhurst resident Uli Widmaier. The concert will be held at Congregation Etz Chaim, 1710 So. Highland Ave. in Lombard. It will also be available virtually via live stream. Free, but contributions appreciated to The People’s Music School. Masks required. ‘People of the Prairie’ now open at EHM
The Elmhurst History Museum at 120 E. Park Ave. in downtown Elmhurst, will use an archaeological lens to gain a deeper understanding of the vibrant Native cultures and communities of the earliest inhabitants in their latest exhibit, People of the Prairie: 12,000 Years in DuPage County. New exhibition opens
Beginning Saturday, Feb. 5, the Elmhurst Art Museum hosts its newest exhibit “Houses of Tomorrow: Solar Homes from Keck to Today.” It will remain through May 29. Sponsored by DuPage Foundation, Graham Foundation, Artis Grant Program and Room & Board home furnishings.
