Home surveillance shows suspect crouched by parked car

On Saturday, Dec. 18, police said a complainant reported that while reviewing Ring camera footage at her residence in the 100 block of S. Fairfield at 12:20 a.m., she observed an unknown suspect crouching next to her parked vehicle. Officers checked the area for the suspect but were met with no results.

Person falls victim of scam ‘prize winnings’

Deceptive practice reportedly took place between Dec. 8-Dec. 17, according to a victim in the 100 block of E. North Ave. who told police that she received a mailing from an unknown suspect(s) advising she had won $4.75 million and a new car from Publisher’s Clearing House. The victim was instructed to send a money order for $1,000 to a name and address in California. The victim complied. As of Dec. 17, the victim has not received her prize money or new car.

Man found unlawfully in possession of firearm

Unlawful use of a weapon was reported on Sunday, Dec. 19, when Dequence A. Goodman, 29, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, while Willie H. Wiggins, 31, of Chicago, was charged with DUI and illegal transportation of alcohol near Third and Larch at 3:11 a.m. Police said Goodman admitted to being in possession of a firearm without a valid conceal-and-carry license.

Driver stopped for street racing found with gun, cannabis

On Saturday, Dec. 18, Edwin O. Heredia, 22, of Northlake, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, street racing, possession of cannabis by a driver and improper window tinting subsequent to a traffic stop near York and I-290 at 1:04 a.m. Police said Heredia admitted to being in possession of a loaded handgun and possessed a valid FOID card, but did not possess a valid conceal-and-carry license.

Two charged following physical altercation

Police said officers responded to the 100 block of Haven at 4:35 a.m. for the report of a physical altercation. The victim reported Medardo Esparza, 22, and Marisol Esparza, 24, both of Posen, entered an apartment and started a fight, according to police. Marisol was charged with criminal trespass to a residence and criminal damage to property. Medardo was charged with criminal trespass to a residence and battery.
