From 6 to 9 p.m. each session, the Society for Financial Awareness will present a free two-part course called “Retire with Confidence” at Elmhurst University. Though enrollment is free, registration in advance is required. Sunday, Feb. 6
At 2 p.m., all ages are invited to the Elmhurst History Museum for a free program called Journeying Through the American Indian Way of Life, led by award-winning Ojibwa author Kim Sigafus McIver, who will interweave history, storytelling, songs, and drumming to present the tribes that once inhabited Illinois as well as their native traditions and culture prior to the Indian Removal Act that moved them westward. • From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Elmhurst Art Museum and RGL Marketing for the Arts is holding Art from the Heart: Valentines for Seniors, a special gathering to prepare valentines to be delivered to seniors at Park Place of Elmhurst for Valentine’s Day.
If you cannot make the event on Feb. 7, free Valentine’s Day card-making kits are available at the Museum’s main entrance to pick-up and prepare at home. Finished cards can be put in the mailbox on the exterior of the museum by Mon, Feb. 7 to be included in the delivery to Park Place.

Beginning at 12:15 p.m. the Single Mothers will host another SHE event at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church, 149 W. Brush Hill Rd. Come and be inspired by speaker Jeff Klein, whose topic is “Walking with God.” Complimentary lunch and free childcare for ages 3-12 during the program.

At 4 p.m. in the Frick Center, Founders Lounge, Elmhurst University will present author and historian Michelle Duster, who will present the annual MLK Lecture. From 6:30-8 p.m., the Elmhurst History Museum is hosting a Black History Month book discussion of The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration, with its author, Pulitzer Prize-winner and National Humanities Medal recipient, Isabel Wilkerson. Opening Feb. 4
The Elmhurst History Museum at 120 E. Park Ave. in downtown Elmhurst, will use an archaeological lens to gain a deeper understanding of the vibrant Native cultures and communities of the earliest inhabitants in their latest exhibit, People of the Prairie: 12,000 Years in DuPage County. Beginning Saturday, Feb. 5, the Elmhurst Art Museum hosts its newest exhibit “Houses of Tomorrow: Solar Homes from Keck to Today.” It will remain through May 29. Sponsored by DuPage Foundation, Graham Foundation, Artis Grant Program and Room & Board home furnishings.
