WILLIAM ARENZ
William (Bill) Arenz, age 83, of Lombard passed away Friday, November 19th, 2021.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception, 134 Arthur Street, Elmhurst. Interment was private at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Bill is survived by his loving children, William (Sue Brady), Daniel (Karen), Jill (Anthony) Surrusco, Susan (Laurie Melvin), Christie (Tony) Grigat; his grandchildren, Christina, Marissa, Jack, Katie, Sara, Max and Joseph and bonus grandkids Joanna, Kelly and Grace Conley; brothers and sisters-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. All the kids and their friends knew him as Papa – and he always had ice cream to make them smile.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Arenz; and his brothers, Bud, Bob and Buster Arenz.
Bill was born in Marquette, Michigan, to Edward and Mary Arenz and he was the 2nd of 4 boys. The family moved to Glen Ellyn, and Bill attended St. Petronille grade school and excelled at all things sports, in particular speed skating on Lake Ellyn, and ping pong. His family moved to Elmhurst at the start of his eighth-grade year, where he attended Elmhurst Junior High, now called Sandburg Junior High. Bill graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Elmhurst and played basketball and football. During his high school years, he met some of his lifelong friends, including his best friend to the end, Charlie Priester. Bill is also a veteran of the United States Marine Corp Reserve having served from 1960-1964. After high school Bill met the love of his life, Kathy. They raised their five kids in Lombard. Many a night was spent at his basement bar ‘Overdue Bills’ where you could find Bill getting to know someone new or cherishing someone he already knew. Bill’s career spanned many years in sales, selling everything from plastic to paper.
Dad will always be remembered as a devoted husband, amazing father, one hell of a Papa and a lover of a glass of cold beer.

Cynthia A. Ibeling, née Weldon, age 67, of Lombard, formerly Addison, died Nov. 22, 2021.

Darwin K. Skrzynecki, age 69, of Lombard and Land O’ Lakes, Florida, died Nov. 25, 2021.
