EMH Foundation’s ‘Special Edition’ Reindeer Route Housewalk underway

The Elmhurst Memorial Hospital (EMH) Foundation’s 45th Anniversary Special Edition Reindeer Route Housewalk is being held with a twist to adapt to the ongoing impact of COVID-19. Traditionally, the Housewalk features Elmhurst homes decorated for the holidays by local florists. The 2021 version, instead, is a month-long ReindeerWALK.

A portion of proceeds from the 2021 ReindeerWALK will benefit the Teen Volunteer Health Profession Scholarship fund, which also includes the Marilyn A. Graber Teen Scholarship. The scholarships are for Elmhurst Hospital teen volunteers interested in pursuing careers in healthcare.

Options for participation include direct sponsorship of a Teen Volunteer Scholarship and/or taking part in the ReindeerWALK December Challenge.

The Challenge involves walking 45 minutes a day, 45 minutes a week or as long and often as desired for the month.

Tickets are $45 each to be a ReindeerWALK Participant or ReindeerWALK Supporter (non-walking participant). Walkers will receive an event bag, special anniversary koozie and packet of hot cocoa, and are encouraged to have friends, family and neighbors “sponsor my walk” with a contribution.

Be sure to walk through and enjoy the decorated and featured ReindeerWALK blocks where The Grinch and Santa will be available for photos. Holiday treats will be available for purchase from several vendors during the following times: Friday, Dec. 10 from 5 – 8 p.m. on South St. (Poplar Ave. to Fair Ave.) and Friday, Dec. 17 from 5 – 8 p.m. on Rex Blvd. (Surf St. to Randolph St.).
