Report of shots fired; gun, ammo found

On Nov. 5, police said officers responded to the 800 block of S. Poplar at 3 p.m. for the report of shots fired. After an investigation, officers obtained a search warrant for the residence, executed the warrant on Nov. 6 and located a 9mm handgun and ammunition. A suspect was charged with two counts of felony possession of firearm (not eligible to obtain FOID), and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Burglary suspect viewed on surveillance camera

Attempted burglary was reported at a business in the 400 block of W. Lake at 3:57 a.m. Police said officers responded to the above location for a burglar alarm. Upon arrival, officers observed a broken glass window on the northeast side of the building. Video surveillance showed that a suspect described as a black male smashed a pane of glass with a potted plant, entered the business, and approached a matte grey luxury vehicle parked inside of the business. The suspect exited the building and entered an awaiting vehicle. Nothing was taken from the business.

Fight over closet results in threat to burn down house

On Nov. 7, a 26-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 300 block of Holly at 3:15 p.m. A victim told police that after a disagreement about the use of a closet, the suspect pushed the victim twice, threatened to hurt family members, and threatened to burn the house down. The victim related she was injured as a result from being pushed.

Told business is closed, suspect breaks window

Also on Nov. 7, Trevor J. Horton, 30, of Elmhurst, was charged with criminal trespass to property in the 100 block of Schiller at 1:26 a.m. Police responded to the report of a suspect who broke a glass door after he was told the business was closed. According to police, Horton fled the scene on foot, but was located and taken into custody.

Resident finds apparent bullet hole in front window

On Nov. 10, police said a victim located a bullet hole through the front window of his residence at Astoria Court. The victim does not have any information as to how or why this happened. Officers checked the area and found no further damage. This case is pending investigation.
