Sharon Samuels, 78

Sharon Samuels, nee Oberman, passed away recently at the age of 78. Beloved wife of Stephen Samuels for 55 years; devoted mother of Michael (Lisa), Amy, and the late Robert Samuels; cherished grandmother of Benjamin Samuels, Scott Biancofiori, Kaleb Samuels and Josephine Biancofiori. Sharon grew up in University City, Mo., where she met the lover of her life, Steve, while he was a freshman at Washington University. Their first date was on Dec. 5, 1959 and they were married on Dec. 19, 1965. Sharon taught early childhood education for more than 20 years in Elmhurst as a preschool teacher. After her children were grown, Sharon’s second career in retail sales for Marshall Fields and Vera Bradley. Sharon was a volunteer for numerous groups and organizations, including DuPage PADS, People’s Resource Center in Wheaton and Elmhurst’s Walk-In Assistance Network (EWAN). Sharon enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid traveler. She andher husband traveled to more than 80 countries, spanning every continent. Services were held at Congregation Etz Chaim, 1710 So. Highland Ave., Lombard. Interment Rosehill Cemetery, Chicago.
