The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Assault, battery
Nov. 2
Cody L. Barton, 30, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated battery in the 800 block of N. York at 4:43 p.m. Police said officers responded to the above location for the report of a disturbance. The complainant reported Barton allegedly became agitated after he was asked to leave the premise. The reporting officer made contact with Barton, who continued to become aggressive towards customers and officers, according to police.
Oct. 31
Jaxson R. Taylor, 18, of Chicago, was charged with battery in the 100 block of Prospect at 12:18 p.m. Police said a victim reported being struck in the head numerous times by Taylor.
Aug. 15
A victim in the 500 block of W. Grand told police at 6:10 p.m. that she was sexually assaulted by a suspect while at the above location. This case is pending further investigation.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct
Oct. 30
Police said officers responded for the report of a group of people who were fighting on a football field during a football game in the 100 block of S. West at 8:46 p.m. It was determined that an unknown football player stiff-armed an opponent, which started a fight between the two teams. Officers shut the game down and the teams left the area. There were no injuries.
Oct. 29
A 39-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with two counts of battery in the 100 block of N. Glenview at 2:36 a.m. A victim told police that subsequent to a verbal argument, the suspect became physically aggressive toward her. Officers observed injuries to the victim.
A victim in the 400 block of N. West advised at 7:31 p.m. that while at an outdoor event, a juvenile suspect slapped the victim’s cell phone out of his hand, which caused its screen to shatter. Another victim related the same suspect punched him in the stomach but that victim did not wish to pursue charges. The suspect was issued a citation for damage to property and released on scene to his parent.

A complainant in the 100 block of N. Michigan advised at 10 a.m. that she had an order of protection against the suspect, but it is expired. She was alarmed and disturbed when she found a note on her vehicle from the suspect. The complainant did not wish to pursue charges but wanted the incident documented.
DUI, transportation of open alcohol
Nov. 2
Yordanny Herrera, 19, of Bensenville, was charged with no valid driver’s license, transportation of open alcohol, one headlight and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop in the 900 block of N. York at 1:39 a.m.
Nov. 1
Flores Saul Sanchez, 26, of Cicero, was charged with DUI, possession of cannabis by a driver, expired registration and no insurance in the 300 block of N. York at 2:52 p.m.
Oct. 31
Matthew Hermida, 23, of Bellwood, was charged with DUI, endangering the life of a child, operating a vehicle while using an electronic communication device and failure to carry driver’s license on person while operating a vehicle subsequent to a traffic stop near North and I-290 at 11:43 p.m.
Oct. 30
Isaura P. Guerrero, 38, of Elgin, was charged with DUI, endangering the life of a child and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near Grand and Lake at 11:24 p.m.
Oct. 29
Romagno Galvez Bravo, 23, of Chattanooga, Tenn., was charged with DUI, no valid driver’s license, improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic control device and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Indiana and North at 1:29 a.m.
Kukasz Czuba, 37, of Willow Springs, was charged with DUI, improper parking on roadway, transportation of open alcohol, improper window tinting and no insurance near Route 83 and Lake at 8:40 p.m.
Fleeing, eluding
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported two incidents of fleeing and eluding in which drivers of a vehicle or a motorcycle reportedly fled after a traffic stop was conducted.
Harassment, threats
Nov. 2
A victim in the 100 block of S. Grace told police at 4:34 p.m. that the suspect has been harassing her and her friends. The suspect showed up at the victim’s house. The suspect was asked to no longer have contact with the victim.
Oct. 31
A victim told police that an unknown suspect texted 22 harassing messages regarding a family member owing money to the suspect. An investigation is pending.
A complainant in the 200 block of Maison Court told police at 10:03 p.m. that a known suspect sent a suspicious and harassing text message regarding his time in the U.S. military. A reporting officer located the victim and advised him to have no further contact with the victim.
Oct. 28
A victim in the 100 block of S. Prospect reported at 3:56 p.m. that an unknown suspect attempted to extort money by threatening to publish an explicit video of the victim. The victim refused and the unknown suspect disseminated the video to the victim’s social media contacts. The victim blocked the suspect from his social media platforms.

Oct. 29
Michael A. Provenzano, 27, of Elgin, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis by a driver in the 900 block of N. York at 1:03 p.m.
Jaron J. Stevenson, 25, of Addison, was issued a citation for Possession of Cannabis by Driver and One Headlight, while Tyrae Barnes, 30, of Chicago, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis by a passenger subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and Grand at 9:43 p.m.
Suspicious circumstances
Oct. 31
A reporting officer met with a complainant in the 600 block of S. Fairview at 2:46 p.m. who reported his house was egged. The complainant believes this occurred after his son was involved in a disagreement with a suspect earlier in the night.
Theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery
Nov. 2
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 100 block of E. First at 10:52 a.m. A reporting officer met with the store owner who reported two female suspects entered the store and stole a box containing 10 vape devices. Video surveillance showed one female suspect make a purchase while the other suspect walked into the employee area behind the counter and took the full box of vape devices.
Identity theft was reported in the 300 block of W. Commonwealth at 5:25 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) used her personal information to open a Nicor Gas account.

Theft of vehicle parts was reported in the 300 block of E. St. Charles. A complainant reported that an unknown suspect(s) removed catalytic converters from activity buses that were parked on the west side of the property sometime between the above dates.
Oct. 25-Nov. 2
Theft of vehicle parts was reported in the 600 block of W. Grand. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) removed the catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot sometime between the above dates.
Oct. 31-Nov. 1
Theft was reported in the 100 block of N. Route 83 at 10:13 a.m. A victim told police that upon trading in her vehicle, she did not remove the front and rear license plates. When she returned to the dealership to retrieve the license plates, the front license plate was missing. The license plate was entered into LEADS.
Oct. 30-Oct. 31
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 600 block of W. Belden. A victim reported that an unknown suspect(s) entered her locked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway of her residence sometime between the above dates and removed a loaded handgun from the unlocked center console of her vehicle. The handgun’s serial number was run through LEADS and returned clear. The handgun was then entered into LEADS as stolen.

Theft was reported in the 200 block of S. Route 83 at 4:23 p.m. A victim told police that while shopping, an unknown suspect stole her wallet containing credit cards and her Illinois driver’s license from her purse. A short time later, the victim was notified of several unauthorized charges to her credit cards.
Oct. 29
Theft of vehicle parts was reported in the 400 block of W. St. Charles at 2:50 p.m. A complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) removed the catalytic converter from an Elmhurst school district- owned van.
Theft was reported at a restaurant in the 100 block of N. York at 7:11 p.m. A complainant related that the suspect left during her shift with cash from the complainant’s previous two tables she had served. An officer attempted to contact the suspect and left a voice message.
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 600 block of W. North at 10:26 p.m. A victim related that an unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear passenger window of his locked vehicle and stole a briefcase containing a laptop computer, a computer bag containing an Apple iPad, and a CPAP machine. Serial numbers for the laptop and iPad are unknown at this time.
Sept. 27
Identity theft was reported in the 900 block of Fairfield at 11:14 a.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) used her personal information to open a line of credit.
Warrant arrest
Nov. 3
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Prospect at 9:14 p.m., Ray Lakeith, 32, of Aurora, was found have had an active warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office. He also was charged with driving while license suspended, no rear registration plate light and no insurance.
Oct. 31
Police said that subsequent to a loud noise complaint in the 500 block of W. Grand, the suspect was found to have a valid warrant from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the police station. The Cameron County Sheriff’s Office was unable to provide the requested paperwork and the suspect was released from custody.
Oct. 30
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and Grant at 7:58 a.m., Joshua Morales, 27, of Bloomingdale, the driver of the vehicle, was found to have an active warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office. Morales also was issued citations for driving while license suspended and speeding. Tatyana Dotson, 25, of Lombard, a passenger in the vehicle, was issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis in a vehicle and no seat belt.
