Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Criminal damage, criminal trespass

Oct. 27

Tatiana Pallasch, 39, of Elmhurst, was issued a citation for damage to property in the 100 block of S. Route 83 at 1:38 p.m. Police said a reporting officer met with the victim who reported that Pallasch threw an unknown object at the victim’s vehicle.

Oct. 24

Police said a reporting officer responded to the 100 block of N. Addison for a damage to property report. The reporting officer located a shattered glass door on the first level, southeast stairwell of the parking garage. The damage appeared to have been caused by a green marble which was located in the broken glass.

Oct. 22

Police said a complainant at York High School reported at 2:19 p.m. that she discovered a note on her windshield berating her for parking in a reserved parking space. As she was driving from the area, she noticed the right front tire was low on air pressure. Upon further inspection, she discovered five puncture holes in the tire.

Fleeing, eluding

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of fleeing and eluding in which drivers of a vehicle or a motorcycle reportedly fled after a traffic stop was conducted.

Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance

Oct. 26

Madeleine J. Fugate, 23, of Chicago, was issued a citation for unlawful possession of adult use cannabis in a vehicle subsequent to a traffic stop near S. Prospect and W. Butterfield at 4:05 p.m.

Nelson D. Reynolds, 28, of Chicago, was issued citations for disobeying a traffic control device, no valid driver’s license and possession of cannabis by a driver subsequent to a traffic stop near Palmer and Marion at 5:37 p.m.

Laquintion V. Wooten, 36, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance in the 200 block of N. York at 5:35 p.m.

Oct. 25

Santiago Navarro, 21, of Chicago, was charged with driving while license suspended, unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, driving with expired registration and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop in the 200 block of N. Willow at 4:03 a.m.

Oct. 23

Erica McCoy, 32, of Broadview, was issued citations for possession of cannabis by a driver, possession of open alcohol and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and Butterfield at 1:56 a.m.  

Sixto Perez, 18, of Melrose Park, was issued citations for possession of cannabis and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Route 83 at 7:48 a.m.

Suspicious circumstances

Oct. 25

Police said a reporting officer met with a complainant in the 600 block of N. Michigan who reported he discovered a scar on his son’s head after picking him up from daycare. The complainant also reported his son had been waiting outside of the daycare without a jacket. The complainant filed a report with DCFS and was advised an investigator would respond to the daycare the following day.

Oct. 26

Police said a complainant in the 200 block of Chandler stated she hired a maid service to clean her home and has always had the same crew. The complainant became concerned after an unfamiliar cleaning crew arrived at her home. The complainant asked the cleaning crew to leave her home after she felt uncomfortable. The complainant noticed as the subjects left, one of the cleaners took a picture of her vehicle’s license plate. Nothing appeared to be missing from inside the residence.

Oct. 20-Oct. 21

A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered her vehicle sometime between the above dates while it was parked outside in the 400 block of N. York. The victim stated her vehicle was locked; however, the rear driver side window was left open. Nothing appeared to be missing from inside the vehicle.

Theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery

June 1-Oct. 26

Deceptive practice was reported in the 400 block of E. Vallette between the above dates. A victim reported she sent an unknown suspect various gift cards and Bitcoin. The victim stated she began communicating with the suspect through an online dating site and had been sending the unknown suspect money for about a month.

Oct. 25

Theft of vehicle parts was reported in the 300 block of W. Butterfield at 5:56 p.m. A victim reported that an unknown suspect(s) removed the catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle while it was parked at the above location.

Oct. 24

Retail theft was reported at a food store in the 200 block of S. Route 83 at 3:44 p.m. A reporting officer met with the store manager who reported an unknown suspect entered the store and took liquor without paying. The suspect is described as a black male between 35 and 45 years old.

Identity theft was reported in the 300 block of W. Butterfield at 4 p.m. A victim reported his credit card was missing, and upon reviewing his bank account, he discovered the card had been used at the above location.

Oct. 23

Identity theft was reported in the 200 block of Elm Park at 9:29 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect used her personal information to open a Chime bank account.

Oct. 20

Identity theft was reported in the 300 block of E. Church at 11:30 a.m. A victim reported that an unknown suspect(s) attempted to transfer funds out of her bank account. The victim also learned of fraudulent activity on her debit account.

Oct. 14

Fraud was reported at a business in the 900 block of S. Riverside at 3:16 p.m. A reporting officer met with a victim who reported an unknown suspect purchased a chair using a credit card. It was later found the credit card used did not have the funds available. The victim made several attempts to contact the suspect but was met with no results.

Sept. 23

Identity theft was reported in the 600 block of N. York at 11:06 a.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect fraudulently used his T-Mobile account information and purchased two 12 Pro Max iPhones. The iPhones were entered into LEADS as stolen.

Unemployment benefits identity theft

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported no incidents of identity theft with the intention of using a victim’s personal information to fraudulently apply for unemployment benefits through the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
