DR. PAUL E. HADLEY
Dr. Paul E. Hadley, age 90, of Glen Ellyn, died at Central DuPage Hospital October 22, 2021.
Paul was the beloved husband of Beth for 60 years; the loving father of Doug (Jo), and Keith (Sandra); adored grandfather of Ani, Asa, Caleb, Sofia and Joseph; brother of Sam (Sieglind) Hadley and brother-in-law to Mary Alice Hadley and uncle to many treasured nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by sisters Anne (Jean) Gautier and Paulette (Gene) Ingles and his brother John.
Born August 27, 1931, in Danville, Illinois, he earned his BA from Wheaton College in Illinois and his PhD from the University of Minnesota.
He served in the US Army for 2 years following graduation from Wheaton. He taught High School and was adjunct professor in Mathematics for the University of Maryland for two years while teaching full time for the Defense Department Schools in Germany.
He served as a High School Principal for 29 years in the Twin Cities (MN) and in Illinois. He was principal at Glenbard East High School from 1980 until retiring in 1995. In 1989 he received the “Those Who Excel – For Contributions to Education in Illinois” recognition from the State of Illinois.
Paul and Beth were married in 1961 and shared a love of sailing. They were both attracted to adventure and celebrated their 2nd wedding anniversary on a small sailing boat on the Nile River in Egypt. In 1998 they sailed their 33-foot sailboat “Narnia” over 800 miles in Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. They sailed out of Monroe and DuSable Harbors in Chicago. In 2003 Paul achieved his US Coast Guard Merchant Marine Officer License.
Paul was active in ministry to young people, first with Young Life; as an innovator with the Winter Youth Retreat; the board of the Adventure Learning Center in Nassau Bahamas; and a mentor to many. Paul was an active member of the community, attending Lombard Gospel Chapel; as a member of the Lombard Rotary Club – he loved his Glen Astor friends in Glen Ellyn and his lifelong association with Wheaton College.
A Visitation will be held Friday, October 29, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S Main St., Lombard. Funeral Services Saturday, October 30 with Dr. Hadley Lying-in-state at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11 a.m. at Lombard Gospel Chapel, 369 N. Stewart, Lombard, 60148. Interment at Wheaton Cemetery, Wheaton, IL.

Loretta T. Welch, age 91, of Naperville, died Oct. 20, 2021, at Maple Glen Memory Care in Glen Ellyn.
A Funeral Mass was held Monday, Oct. 25, at Sacred Heart Church, Lombard. Interment followed at Saint Adalbert Cemetery, Niles.
