Elmhurst City Manager Jim Grabowski made a few announcements at the City Council meeting on Monday, Oct. 18:

• Beginning Thursday, Oct. 21, there will be a closure for 30 days of the ramp that takes vehicles from south 294 to north or westbound 290. Grabowski noted that many people use that to access North Avenue. He said the detour is to continue to south on 294 to east bound 290, go to Mannheim Rd. and take those interchanges to come back west. A few chuckled at what Grabowski called “a significant detour for everybody.”

• Halloween trick-or-treat hours have been announced as 3:30-7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31.

• Grabowski praised the work of Dave Oberg and the staff of the Elmhurst History Museum for the current exhibit that tells the story of the Elmhurst University Sesquicentennial. He urged residents to stop in and see it.
