According to a release issued by Chief Michael Ruth of the Elmhurst Police Department, police are investigating an attempted armed robbery that was reported in the 300 block of Cayuga Ave. on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 9:45 p.m.
The victim told police that while he was out walking his dog, he noticed a light colored or white SUV pass him several times on Cayuga Ave. A brief time later, two suspects exited the vehicle displaying a black handgun. They demanded money and patted the victim down. Subsequently, nothing was taken and the offenders fled the scene westbound on Wilson from Cayuga.
The two suspects were both described as male/black wearing black cloth masks. Suspect #1 was 18-20 years old, 5-foot-8 about 160 lbs.; Suspect #2 was approximately 30 years old, 5-foot-10 about 200 lbs.
