MARC R. ERNST
Marc R. Ernst, 46, of Monticello, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Monticello Healthcare.
He was born on May 9, 1975 in Elmhurst, to Gerald (Judy) Ernst and the late Linda (Czerwonka) Takriti.
Marc was a graduate of Glenbard East High School in Lombard. He enjoyed fishing, music, garage sales, the morning paper and his coffee, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his father, he is survived by sister, Jennifer (Scott) Hayes of Seattle, Washington; niece, Coral; Aunt and godmother, Deborah (Hank) DeParis of Monticello, Aunt Lana Lingenfelter of Cedar Lake, Indiana; Uncle and godfather, Bill (Kate) Ernst; and many cousins and extended family.
Services celebrating Marc’s life are private.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Oliver, Monticello Healthcare, and the Monticello Fire Department for the excellent care and love extended to Marc.

PETER GILEA
Peter Gilea, age 100, of Lombard. Loving father of Pam (Michael) Turner, Charmaine (Jim) Connelly, Roberta (Blair) Antoni and the late Gregory Gilea; devoted grandfather of Phillip (Jennifer) Connelly, Brian (Sarah) Connelly, Victoria (Jimmy) Enomoto, Erica (Ryan) Hooker, Meredith (Anthony) Williams, Austin (Maryah) Antoni and Natalie Antoni; cherished great-grandfather of Fiona, Vincent, Kingston Connelly, Addison, Elinn Hooker, Turner, Berkeley Williams, Jackson and Benjamin Connelly; dear brother of George Gilea and preceded in death by brothers Dave, Benny and Paul Gilea, and sister Dorothy Chrisman.
Peter was a proud veteran of WWII, where he served as a Tank Commander, and received the Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, the French Legion of Honor Medal, and Sharpshooter Medal. He was a longtime member of VFW Lilac Post 5815. In 2014 he was a member of the Honor Flight for veterans. Peter also loved to play golf and occasionally bet a buck on the ponies at the local racetrack.
Peter lived his last nine years in Senior Home Sharing in Lombard. The family would like to extend a special thank you to fellow veteran and neighbors Chuck and Kathy Grafton, as well as to the staff and director of Senior Home Sharing.

VIRGINIA B. HOLLISTER
Virginia B. Hollister was born August 7, 1936, in Chicago to Leslie and Dorothy (Stone) Bullock. She passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Holton Manor in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
She was a hugely vocal supporter of her children and their families, and of their paths in life. A fierce and protective voice for the rights of others, she worked tirelessly as an advocate for women and the disenfranchised, including working with the League of Women Voters, her local school boards, The Lombard Chamber of Commerce as director, and also with the Williams Bay Business Association, the Walk-In Ministry for DuPage County and working with her local governments.
Also an advocate for animals and shelters, she worked as a foster parent for many pets in DuPage County, and all of her personal pets were rescues. Her strong spirit and talents will be missed.
Virginia is survived by her husband William J. Hollister, whom she married on September 7, 1963. in Chicago; her children Robert (Robyn) Hollister and Pamela (Curtis) Knaack; beloved grandchildren Curtis and Christopher Knaack; sister Nancy (Jim) Steele; her in-laws Jane Rapp and Jim (Karen) Hollister; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be scheduled later.

Shirley M. (Kerekes) Kovar, age 78, of Winfield, died Sept. 7, at Central DuPage Hospital.
