HAROLD F. KNOX
Harold (Hal) Ferdinand Knox was born on June 8, 1937, in Waukegan, Illinois, to Ferdinand and Esther Knox. Hal peacefully died on August 14, 2021, in his home after saying final prayers. Hal was married to Teresa (June) Knox in 1964 and raised their family in Lombard, Illinois. Hal is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, June, and his only sibling, John Knox (Evie).
Hal attended Waukegan High School and Purdue University then graduated from Parsons College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Hal served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserve before joining RR Donnelly and worked there for almost 40 years. Hal was a wonderful husband and friend but an even more amazing father.
While Hal was an avid golfer, gardener, reader, traveler and chef, a gift he passed on to his sons, Hal will always be remembered for his immensely creative ability to design and build many memorable gifts! You name it, Hal could make it or fix it.
Hal is survived by his three sons, Erick (Julie), Keith (Christy) and Dale Knox; and his grandchildren, Kelly (Leo), Sara, Kevin, Kyle and Lindsey.
Visitation will be held On Thursday, August 19, from 3-8 p.m. at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, IL 60148. Funeral Friday, 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1025 E Madison Street, Lombard. Mass 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in the Chapel, 1400 S. Janice M. Swanson, née Nelson, age 67, of Lombard, passed away on August 9, 2021.
She was the loving wife of Paul J., loving mother of Scott (Melissa) of Bolingbrook, Robert (Carlicia) of Bolingbrook, Thomas (Tina) Swanson of Naples, Florida. Fond grandmother of Logan and Benjamin. Dear sister of Dennis (Debbie) of The Villages, Florida, and Michael (Dianna) of The Villages, Florida. Great niece of Kenneth Grabowich of Arizona. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Janice lived in Wheaton for the last seven years, Lombard for the 25 years prior to that. She grew up in Oak Park and graduated from Oak Park River Forest High School. She was a realtor for JW Reedy Realty for over 20 years. She was active in the Lombard YMCA Indian Guides, volunteered for the Meals on Wheels for over eight years.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, from 3-9 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, with a Funeral Service on Friday, August 20, at 10 a.m., also at Brust Funeral Home, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside.
