Finance director Tom Trosien retires; farewell gathering held

City bids farewell to Trosien
(from left): Tom Trosien is joined by Assistant City Manager Michael Kopp and Mayor Scott Levin at a reception held in his honor as Trosien retires from the City after 32 years of service, first as Assistant Finance Director and then Finance Director upon the retirement of Marilyn Gaston. In the Council meeting, Levin remarked how few finance directors have held the position over the years, which speaks volumes about working for the City of Elmhurst.

At the latest meeting of the Elmhurst City Council, Second Ward Alderman Bob Dunn took a moment during Comments of Elected Officials to offer words of appreciation for Tom Trosien, City finance director, who retired effective on that day, Monday, Aug. 2.

“I really want to thank our Finance Director Tom Trosien for his commitment to the City and to the high level of quality work done by his department,” Dunn said. “He officially retired today and he will be greatly missed. We are looking right now to fill that void.”

Mayor Levin echoed Dunn’s sentiments.

“We had a farewell for Tom today,” Levin said. “We have had very few Finance Directors in the City of Elmhurst and it is with heavy emotion that he departs after 32 years. We appreciate his longevity and outstanding level of service.”

After the meeting, there was a farewell reception held for Trosien in the lobby of City Hall.
