The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Criminal damage, criminal trespass
July 19
A victim in the 400 block of Highview told police at 4:36 p.m. that he is having ongoing issues with juveniles ringing his doorbell, banging on his windows, breaking his window screens and damaging his flower beds and landscaping lights.
July 16
A reporting officer met with the complainant in the 100 block of N. Addison who reported that an unknown suspect(s) slashed the tires of two bikes which belonged to his son and his son’s friend. The bicycles were secured to a railing located on the southeast side of the Addison Avenue parking garage.
July 14-July 16
A complainant in the 200 block of Illinois told police that an unknown suspect(s) forced entry to a condemned residence through a rear porch window. Nothing was taken and the residence is scheduled to be torn down.
July 15
John J. Miulli, 33 (no town listed), was charged with criminal trespass to property in the 100 block of N. Maple at 5:24 p.m. Police said a reporting officer met with a complainant who reported that Miulli, who does not reside at the residence, was refusing to leave.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, disturbance
July 19
A 26-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with violation of a domestic violence bail bond in the 600 block of Crockett at 6:11 p.m. A victim told police that the suspect has been at the residence causing problems which is in violation of the bail bond order from a previous domestic violence incident.
July 18
Jose A. Martinez, 50, of Chicago, was charged with fighting in public near Route 83 and North at 10:32 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a traffic crash/disturbance, the driver of a vehicle exited his vehicle and approached Martinez, a passenger in the other vehicle. Martinez allegedly pushed the driver.
A victim in the 900 block of S. Hillcrest told police at 2:27 p.m. that a suspect grabbed her shoulders and pushed her into a wall. The victim had redness and bruising to her shoulder area. The suspect was placed under arrest and resisted officers. The suspect was transported to the police station. Charges are pending.
July 17
A 49-year-old Elmhurst woman was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 400 block of N. West at 3:59 p.m. Police said a reporting officer met with the victim who reported the suspect battered him causing injury to his back and leg.
DUI, DUI-drugs, illegal transportation of alcohol, illegal possession of alcohol
July 22
Maryann Nomellini, 59, of Streamwood, was charged with DUI near Route 83 and St. Charles at 2:25 a.m.
July 21
Police said that subsequent to a report of several subjects drinking in public, police found that all had indeed consumed alcohol in public. Vanessa Cruz-Bahena, 21 of Glendale Heights, and Gomez-Mazariegos, 21, of Bensenville, were cited for possession of alcohol in public. Alan Garcia-Perez, 19, of Bensenville, and a juvenile were cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor and possession of alcohol in public. Police said Yuran Estuardo Lopez-Carrillo, 19, of Bensenville, was found to have a valid warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s
Office. He also was charged with attempt obstructing identification, consumption of alcohol by a minor and possession of open alcohol in public.

Agustin Ariza-Galvan, 20, of Addison, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, no valid driver’s license, improper lane usage, consumption of alcohol by a minor and no insurance subsequent to a single vehicle crash near Route 83 and Lake at 3:22 p.m.

July 20
Guillermo Meraz, 18, of Chicago, was charged with driving while license suspended, unlawful possession of cannabis by driver, improper stopping on the roadway, improper use of registration and no insurance subsequent to a well-being check of a driver asleep at the wheel in the 600 block of W. North at 5:13 p.m.
July 18
Police said officers responded to the 700 block of N. York at 5:08 p.m. for the report of intoxicated subjects who were drinking and smoking cannabis in the alley. Juvenile suspect #1 ran from the scene and was subsequently apprehended. Juvenile suspect #1 was taken into custody and was transported to the police station. Juvenile suspect #2 was cited
for possession of drug paraphernalia and was released on scene. Juvenile suspect #3 was cited for possession of cannabis and was released on scene. Juvenile suspect #1 was released without charges and will be referred to DuPage County Juvenile Probation.
July 15
Jermaine J. Rodriguez, 22, of Blue Island, was issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis by the driver and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Lake at 3:40 p.m.
Bennett O. Romaine, 28, of Mount Prospect, was issued a citation for unlawful possession of cannabis in a vehicle subsequent to a traffic stop in the 900 block of N. Larch at 4:38 p.m.

July 21
Theft was reported in the 100 block of Prospect at 8:49 a.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) took her backpack containing an Apple iPhone, several keys and other miscellaneous items from a park bench.
July 20
Identity theft was reported in the 900 block of S. Swain at 10:25 a.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) used his American Airlines Advantage miles to book a hotel stay.
July 19-July 20
Theft was reported in the 200 block of Addison. Police said a reporting officer met the victim who reported a Honda brand generator and a DeWalt brand air compressor were taken from a fenced-in construction site.
July 15-July 20
Identity theft was reported at Elm Creek Drive. A victim told police that an unknown suspect used her personal information to open several credit accounts and made fraudulent purchases sometimes between the above dates.
July 16
Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of S. Mitchell at 3:19 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) removed funds from her bank account.
July 15
Deceptive practice was reported in the 600 block of N. York at 3:56 p.m. Police said a reporting officer met with a complainant who reported an employee was the victim of a quick-change scam. The complainant stated the unknown suspect confused the cashier while asking for change for a $100 bill. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 50 years old, wearing a red baseball hat, glasses, surgical mask, and spoke with mumbled speech. This case is pending investigation.
Identity theft was reported in the 900 block of S. Prospect at 5:58 p.m. A victim told police that she provided her Social Security number on a web link claiming to be from the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Police said that subsequent to a report of suspicious person, Herman Lawrence Nitz, 57, of Villa Park, was found to have a valid warrant out of the Illinois Department of Corrections near St. Charles and Route 83 at 7:25 p.m.
