Home invasion on Washington St. remains under investigation

Elmhurst police have been investigating a residential burglary that was reported in the 300 block of S. Washington Street on Thursday, June 24 at 10:30 a.m.

A resident in the 300 block of S. Washington Street reported hearing a person inside of the home. The offender quickly fled after the resident called out to them. Further investigation revealed the offender had cut a hole in a window screen, entered through the open window and allegedly removed jewelry.

Neighbors reported seeing a dogwalker around the same time of the burglary.  It is unknown if the dogwalker was the offender. The dogwalker is described as a white male, medium build, in his 40’s, walking a medium-sized black-and-white dog with a harness.

Another witness described the suspect as a male with a dark complexion, wearing blue jeans, a baseball cap, with a medium-sized black dog. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect. This case is pending investigation.
