Villa Park’s Jefferson Pool, located at 341 N. Harvard Ave., was closed throughout 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pool opened for the 2021 season on Saturday, June 5. A young patron—Leo Kooima—is pictured on the water slide on opening day. According to Sue Earl, the Villa Park Parks and Recreation Department’s aquatics manager, the pool currently has a capacity of 400 people. She noted that’s more patrons than the pool has ever had on any given day. Earl added that the pool’s diving board is being replaced. The old diving board has been removed. Earl said she hopes the new diving board will be installed by the end of June. For more information about the 2021 season at Jefferson Pool, visit invillapark.com/285/Aquatics.
