On Thursday, June 10, Elmhurst Police Chief Michael Ruth issued a release about the police investigating an incident of aggravated vehicle hijacking. The incident took place on Tuesday, June 8 at 7:50 p.m. in the area of Lake and Emroy.

According to the release, the victim had posted his 2012 Dodge Charger automobile for sale on an internet site and agreed to meet a perspective buyer at Crestview Park in Elmhurst. The victim allowed the prospective buyers to sit inside the car and test drive the vehicle.  At Lake and Emroy, police said one of the two prospective buyers produced a handgun and ordered the owner out of the car. The offenders fled the area northbound on County Line Road with the victim’s Dodge Charger.  A short time later, Elmhurst detectives recovered the stolen Charger abandoned in Lynwood, Ill.

The offenders were described as:

#2 was a black male between 20-23 years of age, thin build wearing a ski mask, black t-shirt and black shorts. He was armed with a handgun.
