Bank inside south Jewel robbed

On May 18, armed robbery was reported at a bank in the 900 block of S. York at 3:02 p.m. Police said a suspect described as a black male, around 5-foot-3, wearing light colored shorts, flip flop sandals, a long sleeve blue T-shirt, full face covering and a blue Chicago Bears baseball cap with an orange “C” insignia on the front, and a tan Ace bandage wrapped around his left calf, displayed a black hand gun, took cash and fled the scene in an unknown direction. The area was checked with no results. Area schools were placed on soft lockdown during the incident

Suspect allegedly tackles victim, attempts to strike with hammer

On May 17, Chong H. An, 53, of Schaumburg, was charged with assault, battery and served a no-trespass notice in the 100 block of Industrial at 2:25 p.m. According to police, a victim reports the suspect entered the office and tackled the victim to the ground. The suspect then went into another office, returned with a hammer and attempted to strike the victim with the hammer, police said.

Victim claims suspect pulled knife after argument

On May 14, police said officers responded to the 200 block of E. Butterfield at 9:29 p.m. for the report of a disturbance. The reporting officer met with the complainant who stated a suspect had pulled out a knife following a verbal argument. The complainant declined to pursue complaints.

Methamphetamine turns up in hospital inventory

On May 19, police said officers responded to Elmhurst Hospital at 10:23 a.m. for a drug investigation. During an inventory of the patient’s property, hospital staff located suspected Gamma Hydroxybutyrate. The officer took possession of the unknown substance which later field tested positive for methamphetamine and placed it into evidence. Charges are pending lab results.
