The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Criminal defacement, criminal trespass, criminal damage
April 6
A complainant came into the police station at around 10:22 a.m. to report an unknown suspect cracked his vehicle’s windshield and stole his parking sticker. The officer did not observe any visible adhesive residue where the purported parking pass would have been located. Elmhurst University related the complainant has not received a parking sticker
since 2017.
A City of Elmhurst employee reported a damaged surveillance camera in the train depot’s underground pedestrian walkway in the 100 block of W. First at around 10:24 a.m.
April 5
A reporting officer met with the complainant in the 200 block of N. York who stated the suspect was in the business using profane language and threatening to harm employees. The suspect was served with a no trespass order and released from the scene.
April 1-April 2
A reporting officer met with the complainant who reported that an unknown suspect(s) damaged several benches and playground equipment at a school in the 400 block of N. West sometime between the above dates.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct
April 5
A 25-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 600 block of W. Crockett at around 2:50 a.m. Police said a reporting officer met with the complainant who stated the suspect struck the victim in the mouth.
Police said a 40-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with violation of domestic battery bail bond and transported to the DuPage County Jail in the 500 block W. Babcock at around 12:26 p.m.
Police said officers responded to the 400 block of N. West at around 10:04 p.m. for the report of a domestic dispute. The reporting officer met with the complainant who stated her boyfriend threatened her
and was attempting to enter the residence. The suspect stated he was at the residence to retrieve personal items and the complainant was denying him access to the home. The suspect agreed to leave and not return to the residence.
April 4
A 40-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery in the 500 block of W. Babcock at around 10:10 a.m. Police said a reporting officer met with the victim who stated she sustained an injury to her hand caused by the suspect.
April 3
A 47-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery in the 200 block of E. Cayuga at around 1:06 p.m. Police said a reporting officer met with the victim who stated she sustained an injury after the suspect pushed her.
April 2
A 34-year-old Gilberts, Ill., woman was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 500 block of W. Grand at around 1:57 a.m. A victim told police that the suspect struck him in the face and neck.

April 7
Priscilla P. Bakos, 43, of Bensenville, was charged with DUI-drugs, improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Diversey at around 1:03 a.m.
April 4
Robert Boston, 36, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol, improper tint and making an improper turn subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Church at around 12:54 a.m.
Michael Thomas, 32, of Chicago, was charged with driving while license suspended, improper turn at an intersection, illegal transportation of open alcohol and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Church at around 12:54 a.m.
April 3
Jessica Casiano, 41, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, failure to signal when required, tinted windows and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near Emory and Lake Frontage at around 2:23 a.m.
Noe Garcia-Velasquez, 30, of Bensenville, was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, transportation of open alcohol, failure to give information after striking property and no valid license in the 700 block of Industrial at around 6:23 a.m.
Victor Hernandez Hernandez, 36, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, speeding and illegal transportation of open alcohol subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Roosevelt at around 2:54 a.m.
Cassandra Tello Duran, 26, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, failure to signal and improper lighting, while Guillermo Ocampo, 51, of Chicago, was charged with obstructing a police officer subsequent to a traffic stop near North and I-290 at around 12:56 a.m.
Eileen Williams-Jackson, 57, of Lombard, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop in the 200 block of S. Route 83 at around 11:31 p.m.

Eduardo Guadarrama Olvero, 56, of Des Plaines, was charged with DUI, disobeying a traffic control signal, improper turn and illegal transportation of open alcohol subsequent to a traffic stop near W. North and N. Route 83 at around 11:57 p.m.

James L. Spirakis, 50, of Elmhurst, was charged with aggravated DUI, improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a single vehicle crash in the 300 block of N. West at around 11:18 p.m.

Darryl J. Hill, 21, of Berkeley, was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, driving while license suspended, speeding and no insurance near Roosevelt and I-290 at around 12:22 p.m.

Bryant B. Strauss, 31, of Villa Park, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, driving while license suspended, possession of cannabis by the driver, expired registration and tinted windows subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Fair at around 9:34 p.m.

Franshun Jordan, 20, of Melrose Park, was charged with driving while license suspended, speeding, improper tint, unlawful possession of cannabis by driver and possession of alcohol by a minor subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Lawndale at around 9:41 p.m.
April 2
Omar Afify, 22, of Addison, was issued citations for operating a vehicle while using an electronic communication device and unlawful possession of cannabis in a vehicle, while Maria Ramo, 21, of Addison, a passenger in the vehicle, was cited for unlawful possession of cannabis in a vehicle subsequent to a traffic stop near N. York and E. North at around 9:47 p.m.
Dale E. Burk, 35, of Westmont, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of hypodermic syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle, improper stopping in the roadway and no insurance subsequent to a call for a driver slumped behind the wheel near W. North and N. Route 83 at around 12:41 p.m.

Martin Sotelo, 32, of Lombard, was issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis by driver and unlawful use of an electronic communication device subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and Grand at around 8:31 p.m.
Suspicious circumstances
April 6
A complainant told police that Elmhurst University has had extensive incidents with the subject and that he was expelled in 2019. Elmhurst University Security requested a no-trespass notice to be issued to the subject and his mother. Both subjects were served with their copy of the no trespass notice and left the property.
Theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery
April 6
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 600 block of N. York at around 6:49 p.m. A complainant related that an unknown suspect placed four bottles of whiskey into his backpack and left the store without paying for the merchandise. Video surveillance shows the suspect walk southbound across Industrial Drive.
Officers checked the area with no results.
Theft was reported in the 100 block of S. Route 83 at around 9:14 p.m. A victim told police that after shopping for an hour, she proceeded to the register and could locate neither her cell phone, nor her wallet containing her debit card, ID card, and cash. An investigation is pending.
April 2
Police said that subsequent to a commercial burglar alarm at a car dealership in the 500 block of W. Lake at around 1:26 a.m., officers observed two broken bay door windows on the west side of the dealership and the suspect vehicle was seen fleeing at a high rate of speed eastbound on Lake. Officers reviewed surveillance footage which showed three unknown suspects forced entry to the business through a bay door; however, nothing was taken. This case is pending investigation.
April 1
Theft by deception was reported in the 300 block of N. Larch at around 2:14 p.m. A victim told police he was contacted via social media by two unknown suspects who requested the victim purchase two gift cards and supply the information along with a copy of the victim’s driver’s license. The victim complied with the request and later learned he had been the victim of a scam.
March 10
Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of N. Avon at around 3:27 p.m. A victim reported that an unknown suspect(s) used his Social Security number to file a tax return.
Unemployment benefits identity theft
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported five incidents of identity theft with the intention of using a victim’s personal information to fraudulently apply for unemployment benefits through the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
Warrant arrest
April 3
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near W. North and N. Addison at around 10:44 p.m., Krassimir Andonov, 47, of Chicago, was found to have two warrants out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office. Andonov also was charged with speeding.
