During traffic stop, police find loaded pistol

On March 15, Jamarr Jenkins, 27, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of cannabis by the driver, driving while license suspended, no front plate and failure to signal subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and York at around 10:15 a.m. Police said Jenkins was found to be in possession of a loaded pistol.

Suspect flashes handgun while driving next to victim

On March 13, police said officers responded to an area near N. Route 83 and W. North at around 3:15 p.m. for the report of a suspect who displayed a firearm. The victim stated she was driving when a vehicle pulled alongside her and a suspect flashed what appeared to be a handgun. The suspected vehicle then fled eastbound on I-290. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspected vehicle. Case pending investigation.

Suspect admits lying about being stabbed; gives false name

On March 14, police said officers responded for the report of a subject who said he had been stabbed in the 500 block of S. York at around 9:28 p.m. According to police, Santos Cardona, 44, of Bensenville, admitted to officers that he was not stabbed but had pulled out an IV. He also provided officers with a false name and date of birth. After learning of Cardona’s true identity, he was found to have a valid warrant from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, police said. He was charged with obstructing identification.

Paintball guns found in York student’s backpack

On March 11, a reporting officer was notified by York High School administration that two paintball guns were found in a student’s backpack. The student related he brought the paintball guns to school to show a friend after the school day. The student’s parents were notified. The case will be referred to the Peer Jury program.
