Store employee battered trying to halt theft suspects

On Jan. 30, assault and battery were reported at a store in the 600 block of N. York at around 4:27 p.m. Police arrived on the scene for the report of a battery that just occurred. The complainant stated she was battered while trying to stop two retail theft suspects. The unknown suspects dropped the stolen merchandise and fled the scene in a black older model SUV. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects. The suspects were described as an Hispanic male and a black male. 

Man charged with carrying weapon while allegedly intoxicated

On Jan. 31, Michael Staron, 22, of Palos Park, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon under the influence of alcohol and carrying a concealed weapon on university property at Elmhurst University at around 3:25 a.m. Police said that during an investigation, it was determined that Staron was in possession of a concealed and carry weapon in an unlawful location while under the influence of alcohol.

Road rage results in vehicle damage; suspect flees

On Feb. 2, a complainant told police at around 6 a.m. that he was involved in a road rage incident near Commonwealth and Butterfield in which an unknown suspect exited his vehicle and damaged both side mirrors on the complainant’s vehicle. The unknown suspect then fled the scene in a silver SUV, last seen headed westbound on Butterfield. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
