Armed robbery reported at gas station
On Dec. 8, armed robbery was reported at a gas station in the 900 block of N. York at around 2:10 a.m. A reporting officer met with the complainant who stated an unknown suspect displayed a silver revolver and took cash from the cash register. The suspect was described as an Hispanic male, approximately 40 years of age, wearing a black winter coat, blue jeans, a reflective vest and a blue baseball hat. The unknown suspect was last seen on foot running eastbound across York Road. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect. This case is pending investigation.
XBox system leads to alleged battery, robbery
On Dec. 7, Terrence Thomas Jr., 18, of Elmhurst, was charged with aggravated battery and robbery in the 100 block of Fellows at around 1:18 p.m. A reporting officer met with the victim who stated he met the suspect to reportedly sell an XBox gaming system. When they were about to finalize their transaction, police said Thomas Jr. punched the victim in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. The suspect then repeatedly punched the victim and fled from the scene with the merchandise, according to police.
Fight results in broken restaurant door
On Dec. 6, police said officers responded to the 100 block of S. York at around 12:50 a.m. for the report of a fight in progress. The reporting officer met with the victim who stated he accidentally broke a glass pane in the restaurant’s door. The victim appeared intoxicated and sustained an injury to the back of his head. Medics evaluated the victim, who subsequently signed a refusal for treatment. No complaints were signed and the victim was released on scene.
Verbal altercation results in threat with weapon
On Dec. 4, Piotr J. Janeczek, 39, of Westmont, was charged with aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon at a store in the 600 block of W. North at around 3:30 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a verbal altercation in the store, Janeczekr went to his vehicle, returned to the store with a metal baton and threatened the victim.
