James (Jim) Rigitano Jr. passed away on December 10, 2020, from complications related to his battle with COPD. He was born to James and Jean Rigitano on July 11, 1948, in Chicago. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann Rigitano (nee Saviano), and they enjoyed more than 50 years together.
The couple raised four sons, Anthony (Adrienne), James (Cheri), Solvatore (Katie), and Gino (Brianne) in Bloomingdale. The family has since grown to include 11 grandchildren: Anthony, Sophia, Loretta, Mary, Joseph, James, Anna, Angelo, Dominic, and Alphonsus, as well as another who is on the way, due in 2021.
Jim is survived by his wife, children, siblings; Linda (Arthur) Huebner, Steven (Liane), Catherine (Ronald) Watt, along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, and Patricia’s parents, Pasquale and Loretta.
Jim had many joys in his life including his family, sports, and working on cars. The latter he turned into a career. He was a mechanic who worked in the transportation department at ComEd for nearly 25 years. Outside of work, family and friends knew they could count on him for help with their own vehicle woes.
Jim’s other passions included being a Papa to his countless grandchildren, playing 16-inch softball, rooting for the Blackhawks, watching Hallmark movies, celebrating Holidays, loving dogs, and visiting Disney World.
A mass was held on December 21, 2020 at St. Isidore Parish. Jim will be interned at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside. The family requests no flowers. Information provided by the family.
