The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Oct. 22
A 32-year-old Harvard Ill. man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 100 block of N. Elm at around 2:12 p.m. Police said a reporting officer met with the victim who stated the suspect grabbed him by the throat and pushed his wife. The suspect left the scene prior to an officer’s arrival but was located and taken into custody.
DUI, DUI-drugs, possession of alcohol in public, consumption of alcohol by a minor
Oct. 24
Arthur A. Mendoza, 27, of Chicago, was charged with DUI-drugs, illegal transportation of alcohol, unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, disobeying a traffic control signal and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic crash near Route 83 and North at around 8:24 p.m. Police said Mendoza admitted that earlier in the evening, he smoked cannabis, consumed two shots of alcohol and took one Adderall pill without a prescription.
Wilson Reyes, 41, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, driving while license suspended, improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near North and York at around 5:27 p.m.
Shenita Robins, 34, of Villa Park, was charged with DUI, speeding, improper lane usage, failure to dim headlights and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and Route 83 at around 2:53 a.m.
Oct. 23
Adrian Nodal, 24, of Cicero, was issued citations for illegal transportation of alcoholic liquor and possession of cannabis in a vehicle, while Nicolas Olivares, 24, of Cicero, was cited for illegal transportation of alcohol subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and Route 83 at around 11:40 p.m. Both suspects were passengers in a vehicle.

Oct. 24
Akia Fox, 22, of Chicago, was issued citations for possession of cannabis in a vehicle and tinted windows subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Industrial at around 1:05 a.m.
Ronald Wilson, 31, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and disobeying a traffic control device subsequent to a traffic stop near Addison and North at around 2:38 a.m. Police said Wilson also was found to have a valid warrant from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.
Oct. 23
Jay Bowens, 51, of Chicago, a passenger in a vehicle, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing identification and no seat belt subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and S. Riverside at around 12:26 a.m. Police said Bowens provided a false name and a false date of birth. Bowens was also found to be in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Adam Perez, 23, of Stone Park, was issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis by the driver and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near E. North and Melrose at around 10:55 p.m.

Anna Jimenez, 36, of Chicago, a passenger in a vehicle, was issued citations for unlawful use of cannabis in a vehicle and no seat belt subsequent to a traffic stop near W. North and N. Addison at around 9:34 p.m.

Oct. 24
Theft of service was reported at an oil change facility in the 600 block of W. North at around 5:56 p.m. A complainant told police that he performed an oil change on a suspect’s vehicle and the suspect left the scene without paying for the oil change. An investigation is pending.
Oct. 22
Theft was reported in the 600 block of S. York at around 6:44 p.m. A victim told police he left his personal belongings unattended on a bench in the skate park. A complainant observed two male suspects quickly approach his belongings and then leave on bikes. The victim then realized his Apple Airpods were taken and chased after the unknown suspects before losing sight of them. The victim stated the suspects appeared to be Hispanic males between 15 and 16 years old. This case is pending investigation.
Theft was reported in the 300 block of W. Grantley at around 8:36 p.m. A complainant told police she observed an unknown suspect described as a white male between the ages of 17 and 19 take her neighbor’s flag and enter a maroon colored four-door sedan before leaving the area.
Sept. 17-Oct. 16
Theft was reported at a local business in the 300 block of W. Butterfield. A complainant told police that an employee had altered her salary and awarded herself with multiple unauthorized bonuses between the above dates. The suspect has since been terminated from the company. The complainant did not wish to sign complaints but needed the matter documented for insurance purposes.

Between the above dates, the Elmhurst Police Department reported 1 incidents of an unknown suspect(s) removing campaign signs from their front yard.
Unemployment benefits identity theft
Oct. 15-Oct. 24
Between the above dates, the Elmhurst Police Department reported 13 incidents of identity theft with the intention of using a victim’s personal information to fraudulently apply for unemployment benefits through the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
