Joseph “Joe” N. Jurewicz, a longtime resident of Elmhurst, passed away November 13, 2020 at the age of 92. He was born June 6, 1928 in Erie, Pa., to the late Joseph and the late Marie Miezio Jurewicz. Joe was a United States Navy Veteran, serving during both WWII and the Korean War. After the military he had a long career as an electrical engineer for Western Electric.
He was a past commander of Elmhurst American Legion T.H.B. Post 187. He was an avid fisherman, a golfer, WWII buff, gun enthusiast, and a lover of dogs.
Beloved husband of Carol for almost 70 years; loving father of Ellen Cluskey, the late Paul Jurewicz and Claire (Clay) Taylor; grandfather of John (Nicole) Cluskey, Bethany (Timon Anderson) Cluskey, Suzanne (Joey) Wiemken, Thomas Jurewicz, James Jurewicz, Mary Jurewicz and Wesley Taylor; great-grandfather of Julia Meza, Eleanor Cluskey, Amelia Cluskey and Hudson “Teddy” Cluskey; brother of Robert (Mary) Jurewicz and the late Stanley (Geri) Jurewicz, and he was uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid-19, a private, family Funeral Service will be livestreamed, and a Celebration of Life will be held in the future when restrictions are lifted. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joe’s name may be made to American Legion T.H.B. Post 187, 310 W.
