Upcoming events will be published, even if they are virtual and only available online. Saturday, Nov. 14
• Beginning at 2 p.m., the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art at 1220 Kensington Rd., in Oak Brook will offer a 60-minute “Virtual Lecture – Restoration of the Imperial Screen,” led by experts from The Conservation Center. • From 7-8:30 p.m., the Elmhurst Center for Performing Arts (ECPA) will hold its 5th annual Spotlight Gala, held virtually for the first time ever. Performers include Elmhurst resident Cathy Richardson of Jefferson Starship and Dan Konopka of OK GO. Guests are invited to order an “Experience Box for Two” for $175 with everything provided to enjoy the virtual event at home. Only 100 boxes will be sold and MAY BE SOLD OUT. Beginning at 12 noon, the Elmhurst History Museum presents a gallery talk entitled “Frank Lloyd Wright: Architecture of the Interior.” Tune in via Facebook Live as Executive Director Dave Oberg shares in-depth details about the exhibit and answers your questions from the gallery. Beginning at 10 a.m., the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art at 1220 Kensington Rd., in Oak Brook will host a 60-minute “Virtual Class – Mineral ID,” led by geologist Sara Kurth. Virtually learn the techniques for mineral identification. Purchase your $10 kit online or in the Museum store. Join us from home and learn how to identify your minerals. At 3 p.m. the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra will host its next virtual musical program of the season, which will remain available through Dec. 6. Enjoy “Mostly Mozart,” presented through an innovative use of video technology and featuring acclaimed pianist Ran Dank.

Available through Dec. 20, the Elmhurst History Museum presents “Frank Lloyd Wright and the Architecture of Space.” From Unity Temple to the Guggenheim Museum, the dynamic interior spaces of Wright’s buildings were integrally tied to the overall forms of these structures. John H. Waters, preservation programs manager at the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy, will share images and insights into the spaces that Wright created and discuss the importance of preserving his buildings for future generations. • Now through Feb. 14, 2021, the Elmhurst Art Museum presents a socially-distanced self-guided, outdoor walking tour of Elmhurst’s modern architecture. Purchase admission ticket at the web site, however, admission is free during Wright Before the “Lloyd” exhibition currently on display through Feb. 14. – Wright Before the “Lloyd,” open now through February 14, 2021, features images and artifacts that portray the eclectic, early explorations of one of the world’s greatest architects and is curated by Chicago’s official cultural historian Tim Samuelson.
– Art in the Post, open now through Nov. 22, displays postcard artwork created and submitted by community members reflecting on COVID-19, racial injustices and other current events
Elmhurst History Museum
Now through Dec. 20, Frank Lloyd Wright: Architecture of the Interior. Through reproduction drawings, house plans, and photographs, explore the ingenious ways in which Wright maximized the feeling of open space while still accommodating the various functions of daily living. Limit: 5 people per group, 15 visitors per hour. All visitors are required to wear face masks for entry.

Lizzadro Museum
Now until January 2021, a Special Exhibit is on display called “Re-carving the Past: The Art of Chinese Bronze and Jades.” The exhibition features 11 bronzes from the MacLean Collection and 16 Jade carvings from the Lizzadro Museum illustrating the enduring importance of antiquity in Chinese art and culture. Formerly located in Wilder Park, the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art can now be found at 1220 Kensington Road in Oak Brook.
