Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Criminal damage, criminal trespass

Aug. 10

The complainant, a neighbor, related that an unknown suspect(s) pulled the victim’s solar pathway lights from the ground in the 400 block of Montrose at around 7 a.m. The suspect also reportedly broke a glass lawn ornament, placed numerous yard signs in the victim’s front yard, and poured salad dressing on the yard signs.

Aug. 10

A complainant in the 300 block of River Glen told police at around 8:29 p.m. that she placed an object on the suspect’s vehicle as a joke. This angered the suspect, who subsequently punched the windshield on the complainant’s vehicle. The suspect owns the vehicle that the complainant drives. Nothing physical occurred between the suspect and the complainant and neither wished to sign a complaint. 

Aug. 8

Police said officers responded to the 100 block of W. Fremont at around 4:05 p.m. for the report of a domestic battery. The complainant told police that subsequent to a verbal argument, the suspect pushed her to the ground. The suspect related he wasn’t home and no physical altercation occurred. The complainant did not have any signs of injury and did not wish to pursue complaints. No arrests were made.

DUI, DUI-drugs, possession of alcohol in public

Aug. 8

Felix Marban, 34, of Chicago, was charged was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, speeding and no insurance, subsequent to a traffic stop near North and West at around 12:43 a.m.

Harassment, threats

Aug. 6

Police said a reporting officer responded to the 300 block of W. Lake at around 3:27 p.m. for a threat report. A victim told police that on the above date, the suspect was terminated. The suspect has reportedly been sending threatening text messages to the victim. An investigation is pending.

Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance

Aug. 10

Damien T. Craddock, 21, of Hillside, was issued citations for possession of cannabis by a driver and disobeying a traffic control device, while Trevante D. Williams, 19, of Berkeley, was cited for possession of adult use cannabis in a vehicle, subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Route 83 at around 12:28 p.m.

Aug. 8

Jason W. Laws, 46, of Wheaton, was issued citations for possession of adult-use cannabis in a vehicle subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and York at around 11:36 a.m.

Aug. 7

Charlie Williams, 65, of Chicago, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, retail theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license revoked, while Anthony Cantore, 23, of Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft at a pharmacy in the 100 block of W. North at around 5:13 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop, Williams was found to have a revoked driver’s license and was in possession of cocaine. Williams and Cantore were found to be in possession of stolen merchandise after having committed a retail theft at the pharmacy, according to police.

Aug. 12

Theft was reported at a convenience store in the 500 block of Spring at around 11:20 a.m. A victim told police that he left his One Wheel Pint Electric board charging behind the store for approximately 30 minutes. When he returned for the board, it was missing. The victim then stated that he believed an unknown suspect had stolen it.

Aug. 11

Retail theft was reported at a store in the 600 block of N. York at around 1:15 p.m. Police said a reporting officer met with loss prevention who stated the pharmacy was missing numerous boxes of Nicorette® gum. The complainant reviewed surveillance video which showed a light-skinned male suspect, wearing jeans, a T-shirt, hat, a reflective yellow construction vest and mask, placing several boxes into his cart. The suspect proceeded past the self-checkout registers without paying for the items and left the store.

Aug. 8-Aug. 11

Theft of vehicle parts was reported at a car dealership in the 700 block of W. Lake. A complainant told police that an unknown suspect(s) removed two sets of rear wheels and tires from two of their vehicles parked in the lot.

Aug. 8

Residential burglary was reported in the 300 block of Geneva at around 4:16 p.m. Victims told police that they left their residence to run errands and upon returning home, they found a basement window was broken and items were missing from the home.

Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of N. Myrtle at around 10:45 a.m. A victim told police that he received a letter and debit card from the Illinois Department of Employment Security regarding unemployment benefits. The victim did not apply for unemployment benefits.

Retail theft was reported at a food store in the 600 block of N. York at around 11:04 a.m. Police said two suspects—one described as a white female between 30 and 35 years old; the other described as an Hispanic male between 25 and 30—were observed placing groceries into their cart and leaving the store without paying for the items. The complainant will sign complaints if the suspects are located.

Aug. 7

Theft was reported at a fitness center in the 600 block of N. York at around 5:30 p.m. A victim told police that he went to the gym and stored his belongings in a locker which was secured with a combination lock. Upon completing his workout and returning to the locker room, he noticed his combination lock was missing from the locker and cash was missing from his wallet. An investigation is pending.

Aug. 6

Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of Highview at around 9:56 a.m.  Police said an officer met with a victim in the lobby of the police department for an identity theft report. The victim told police he received a notice from IDES referencing his filing for unemployment. The victim stated he never filed for unemployment.

July 23

Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of Fullerton at around 10:45 a.m. A victim told police that she received a debit card in the mail from Illinois Department of Employment Securities, but she did not file for unemployment.

June 11

Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of N. Ida at around 3:21 p.m. A victim told police that after having problems with his cell phone, he contacted his provider and learned that an unknown suspect used his personal information and created a duplicate SIM card for his phone. Once the cell phone provider restored service to the victim’s phone, he learned that cash was missing from his Bitcoin

account. The reporting officer provided the victim with information on how to protect himself against identity theft.
