Anthony Collins, 18, (second from left) and Alyssa York, 19, (center) each received a $1,500 scholarship from the Lombard Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, in a ceremony held Tuesday, July 7, at the Lombard Village Hall. According to Scholarship Committee Chair Jeannie Logan, recipients are children of police or fire department employees. Also pictured are (left to right) Anthony’s dad, Bill Collins, who just that day had retired from the police department after 23 years; and Alyssa’s parents, Sheila York, administrative coordinator for the fire department, and Reginald York. Not pictured is Anthony’s mom, Tracey Collins. Anthony is a student at Naperville Central and plans to study accounting at the University of Iowa and Alyssa is currently attending College of DuPage and wants to major in fashion merchandising.
