Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Assault, battery

June 30

Police said officers responded to the police station lobby at around 9:26 p.m. for the report of an intoxicated subject who stated he was the victim of a battery and a suspect stole his cell phone. Due to his level of intoxication, the victim was unable to care for himself and medics transported him to the hospital. An investigation is pending.

Criminal damage, criminal trespass

June 25-June 26

A reporting officer met with a complainant in the 400 block of Cottage Hill who reported the rear window to her Hyundai had been broken sometime between the above dates. The victim could not provide suspect information.

June 25

A reporting officer met with a complainant in the 800 block of S. York at around 6:05 p.m. The complainant stated he witnessed two young children driving a motorized go-cart through a fence and then fleeing the scene. The reporting officer checked the area with no results and notified the school of the incident.

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, damage to property, disturbance

June 27

A complainant told police that while at a meeting in the 100 block of Haven, the suspect aggressively approached her and yelled at her. The complainant felt concerned for her safety. The reporting officer spoke with both parties who agreed to have no further contact with one another.

DUI, DUI-drugs, illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of alcohol

June 27

Erica D. Petty, 32, of Plainfield, was issued citations for illegal transportation of alcohol, unlawful possession of adult use cannabis and no seat belt subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Lake at around 10:12 p.m. Police said a second suspect was found to be in possession of a white round pill at the scene which was unable to be identified as a controlled substance. Suspect 2 was released at the scene without charges pending lab results.

June 26

Anthony Davis, 28, of Bartlett, was charged with DUI, two counts of disobeying a stop sign, fleeing and eluding, possession of adult use cannabis, driving while license suspended, improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop in the 100 block of N. Maple at around 11:29 p.m.

Harassment, threats

March 1-June 30

A victim at Elmhurst Hospital told police that her co-worker has been threatening and harassing her while at work between the above dates. The victim stated the suspect shoulder-bumped her and has made threats to beat her up. The reporting officer made contact with the suspect and advised her to not threaten the victim.

June 28

A victim in the 200 block of E. St. Charles told police at around 12:50 p.m. that suspects had been harassing her online after she posted a statement on Facebook. An investigation is pending.

Indecent exposure

June 29

A victim near North and Harvard told police at around 3:45 p.m. that while waiting at the bus stop, she saw a suspect described as a white male around 30 years old with brown hair and wearing an baseball-style hat committing a lewd act in his vehicle. The victim yelled, “I’m going to call the police,” and the suspect left the area northbound on York. The area was checked with negative results.

Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance

June 27

Marcin Narel, 33, of Steamwood, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Lake at around 7:11 p.m. Police said Narel was in possession of cocaine.

June 25

Brenden M. Alexander, 26, of Lombard, was issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis by the driver, tinted windows and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Michigan at around 7:40 p.m.

Theft/burglary/attempted theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery

July 1

Identity theft was reported in the 500 block of N. Walnut at around 8:01 p.m. A victim told police that in April, he provided his credit card information to the suspects and

allowed them to purchase an online video game. He was alerted by his credit card company that approximately $194 of unauthorized charges were made to PlayStation Network. An investigation is pending.

June 25

Identity theft was reported in the 600 block of N. Van Auken at around 8:36 p.m. A reporting officer spoke with the victim who reported several unauthorized transactions on his credit card. The victim contacted the bank and they cancelled his card. An investigation is pending.

Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 100 block of N. Caroline. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered her unlocked vehicle and took a pair of sunglasses.

Burglary was reported at an auto dealership in the 700 block of N. York at around 11:56 p.m. A reporting officer met with cleaning staff who reported a broken window pane on a garage door located on the west side of the building. Officers checked the building with no results.  A key-holder responded to the scene and stated they would review video footage and advise if items were stolen.

June 24

Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 100 block of N. Richard at around 5:09 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered his vehicle and removed keys. An investigation is pending.

June 23

Police said that during a follow up on a related case, the complainant advised the reporting officer that a white 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck was stolen off of the lot at a car dealership in the 300 block of W. Grand at around 5:12 p.m. He advised the keys were in the unlocked vehicle. The vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen.

April 19, 2018

Identity theft was reported in the 500 block of E. Park. A reporting officer met with a complainant who stated she received legal paperwork, which alleged she owed cash to Synchrony Bank. An investigation is pending.
