Store employee seen snorting substance
On Feb. 20, police responded to a business in the 900 block of S. York for a drug complaint. According to police, a reporting officer met with a customer who stated she witnessed an employee allegedly snorting a substance off the counter. Police said officers located suspected heroin and two suspects were placed under arrest. One of the suspects was later released without charges. Daniel Marchwiany, 30, of Glen Ellyn, was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Burglary attempts result in two arrests
On Feb. 25, Erick R. Johnson, 21, of Chicago, was charged with attempted burglary, leaving the scene of an accident involving damage to an unattended vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, disobeying a stop sign, use of unsafe tires and no insurance, while Alexander M. Payne, 28, of Chicago, was charged with attempted burglary, resisting/obstructing a police officer and criminal trespass to a vehicle in the 500 block of Cottage Hill at around 7:35 p.m. Police said officers responded to the report of a subject who attempted to break into a vehicle and fled the scene in a grey Nissan Altima. Subsequent to a traffic crash, Johnson was taken into custody. Witnesses told police that Payne, a passenger in the vehicle, fled on foot, according to police. A search of the area was conducted and Payne was taken into custody.

Suspicious circumstances were reported near St. Charles and Fairview on Feb. 20, when a victim told police that while walking home at around 6:57 p.m. an unknown suspect described as a white male, about 35 years old with dirty blond curly hair and wearing sunglasses stopped his vehicle in the middle of the road and began taking photographs of her. The victim yelled at the suspect and continued walking home.
