After burglary attempt, suspect found hiding in victim’s vehicle
On Feb. 6, Isaish K. Smith, 23, of Schaumburg, was charged with five counts of attempted burglary to a vehicle and criminal trespass to a vehicle in the 200 block of Boyd at around 12:59 a.m. Police said while an officer was on patrol, the officer observed a suspicious person who subsequently fled on foot. According to police, Smith was tracked down and located hiding inside of the victim’s vehicle. He was found to have been attempting to burglarize unlocked vehicles in the area, police said.
Theft attempted at laundromat, car wash
Commercial burglary was reported at a business in the 900 block of N. York at around 3:12 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect entered a laundromat and subsequently went into the car wash section of the building. The suspect attempted to pry open an office window, but was unsuccessful. The suspect walked down a hallway and was able to gain entry to the office where he removed four envelopes. The suspect left northbound in York in a silver Ford Excursion.
Suspect nabbed in alleged gas station theft
Sometime between the dates of Feb. 4-Feb. 6, theft was reported at a gas station in the 400 block of N. York. A complainant told police that they had an employee in the back room who had stolen cash, cigarettes and food sometime between the above dates. Police said the suspect admitted to stealing food and cigarettes. The suspect was released without charges pending the gas station’s investigation of the incidents.
Man asks suspect to retrieve his wallet; next day, debit card has charges
On Feb. 2, theft was reported in the 700 block of Geneva at around 10:17 a.m. A victim told police that he left his wallet containing his debit card inside of his locked vehicle. He asked the unknown suspect—described as a female between 43 and 48 years old, weighing around 175 pounds with long brown hair—to retrieve an item from his vehicle, and the following day, learned that his debit card was missing. His bank account reflected $818.32 of unauthorized charges. A reporting officer attempted to contact the suspect with no results.
