Other area fire departments assisted the Lombard Fire Department’s response to a Dec. 26 fire at a Lombard residence at 92 N. West Road. Firefighters responded to the home at approximately 5:45 a.m. Two residents were at home at the time of the fire and were able to evacuate before firefighters arrived. One of the residents was treated at the scene, while the other was transported to Edward-Elmhurst Hospital with non-life threating injuries. No firefighters were injured. The extensive damage caused by the fire left the home uninhabitable. The Lombard Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the fire.
