Saturday, Jan. 25

Beginning at 1:30 p.m., the Elmhurst Art Museum is holding an opening reception for its two upcoming exhibitions, one about the works of Sandra Jorgensen and another called “Could Be Architecture: McCormick AfterParti.” The program includes a conversation with artist and curator Suellen Rocca and writer Margaret Hawkins who will discuss the life and work of Sandra Jorgensen, complete with personal anecdotes. Sunday, Jan. 26

  • At 2 p.m., the Elmhurst History Museum presents Chicagoland: City and Suburbs of the Railroad Age. Join Dr. Ann Durkin Keating, Professor of History at North Central College, as she discusses the influence of the railroad in the 19th century in northeastern Illinois through a slide lecture. Dr. Keating is an accomplished author of many publications and she is co-editor of the Encyclopedia of Chicago. Program takes place in the Education Center and registration is required.   • At 3 p.m., the Elmhurst Symphony present “Mozart Magic” at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church. A bake sale to benefit the Youth Outreach programs of the ESO will be held during intermission. Monday, Feb. 3

Beginning at 11:30 p.m. the Elmhurst Garden Club will meet at Wilder Mansion. Following a luncheon and a meeting, the program will begin at 1 p.m. It will be “Critters in Your Garden,” presented by Mel Zaloudek. The program is open to the public.

 

Ongoing programs:

  • Widows or Widowers (WOW) meet every third Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 537 S. York Road. Admission: $5 per person includes live entertainment. Info: Dave at 630-620-4060 or visit WOW.cfsites.org.
