On Jan. 6, two instances of attempted burglary were reported at car dealerships—one in the 700 block of W. Lake at around 3:14 a.m., and the other in the 500 block of W. Lake at around 3:06 p.m.
Police said that while investigating a burglary at the dealership in the 500 block of W. Lake, a reporting officer responded to the dealership in the 700 block of W. Lake and observed broken glass on a front service bay door. The interior of the building was cleared and it appeared nothing had been taken.
In the incident in the 500 block of W. Lake, police said while a reporting officer was checking the building, broken glass on a door on the northeast corner and an opened service bay door were discovered. It did not appear that any vehicles were missing.
About the suspects
The first suspect was described as a black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, and also wearing black pants, black gloves and black shoes.
The second suspect was described as a black male wearing a hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, black pants, black gloves and black shoes.
The third suspect was described as a black male wearing a hooded sweatshirt with a GAP logo, light blue jeans, black gym shoes and red gloves.
The fourth suspect was described as a black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, black pants, black shoes, red gloves and a black ski mask.
The fifth suspect was described as a black male wearing a black ski mask, a white hooded sweatshirt, a black coat, black pants with a white strip down the sides, black gym shoes and carrying a crowbar.

EC student reports classmate made threats
On Jan. 2, an Elmhurst police officer responded to the lobby of Elmhurst College in the 100 block of S. Prospect at around 4:42 p.m. for a delayed threat report. Upon arrival, a complainant stated that while at the library, another classmate came up to him and began making threats towards him. The reporting officer spoke with the suspect who stated he only threatened the complainant as an intimidation tactic and never meant what he said. School resource officers have been notified about the incident.
Music promoter involved in fight
On Jan. 3, officers responded to a fight in the 600 block of W. North at around 11:58 p.m. Upon arrival, the victim reported having a verbal argument with the promoter from a singing group. The promoter then allegedly punched the victim in the face before leaving the area. The promoter’s information is unknown at this time.
