Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

 

Criminal damage, criminal trespass

 

Dec. 3

Ralph Robertson, 54, of Roselle, was charged with criminal trespass to real property in the 100 block of N. Michigan at around 3:35 p.m.

A complainant in the 200 block of E. Park told police at around 6:15 p.m. that a known suspect had thrown something through a rear window causing damage. This case is pending investigation.

 

Nov. 30

Police said officers responded for the report of a possible domestic in the 900 block of Riverside at around 2:30 a.m. where a female was heard crying. It was determined that nothing physical occurred between the victim and the suspect, who was found to have punched a glass framed picture. Both parties left the hotel at the manager’s request. The manager of the hotel will review the damage and determine if charges will be pursued.

A victim in the 100 block of E. Schiller told police at around 6:31 p.m. that she believes an unknown suspect had purposely cut her brake lines while her vehicle was parked at the above location. This case is pending investigation.

 

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct

 

Nov. 28-Dec. 2

A victim in the 400 block of Avery told police that she had been pushed down by her daughter sometime between the above dates. A second interview with the victim created a story change and conflicting recollection of events. The DuPage County Adult Protective Services were contacted for follow-up.

 

Nov. 30

A 24-year-old Elmhurst woman was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 100 block of E. Lake at around 11:32 p.m. Police said officers responded for a report of subjects fighting in the parking lot. An officer observed the victim was bleeding from a cut and showed bruising. The victim told police that subsequent to a verbal argument, the suspect punched her in the face and she slapped the suspect in self-defense. The suspect had cuts to her hand and admitted to striking the victim first.

 

Nov. 28

Daniel Gonu, 32, of Elmhurst, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct/public intoxication in the 100 block of N. Addison at around 9:05 p.m. Police said Gonu threw beer at patrons inside a pub after being told to leave. According to police, Gonu was located outside and was intoxicated, and then attempted to gain entry to the pub again.

Anthony Michael Kuta, 26, of Villa Park, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct/befouling property in the 100 block of S. York at around 6:11 a.m. Police said a reporting officer observed Kuta urinating on bushes on the south side of a building.

Dec. 2

John P. Porter, 60, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident in the 100 block of Berteau at around 4:21 p.m. Police said reporting officers responded for a well-being check for a subject sleeping behind the steering wheel. After waking up, Porter moved forward, striking a police car, according to police. Police said Porter admitted to consuming alcohol.

 

Nov. 30

Alfonso A. Fuentes, 44, of Harvey, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and driving without headlights when required subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and St. Charles at around 1:32 a.m.

 

Nov. 29

Lesli Becerra, 26, of Addison, was charged with two counts of aggravated DUI, obstructing identification, driving while license revoked, improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic control device, improper lighting and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Third and York at around 1:33 a.m.

Jennifer Rodriguez, 30, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol, speeding and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Michigan at around 12:05 a.m.

 

Nov. 28

Kevin Mueller, 29, of Lombard, was charged with DUI, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding, disobeying a traffic control device and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Riverside and Route 83 at around 1:04 a.m.

 

Harassment, threats

 

Nov. 28

A victim in the 100 block of Fellows Court told police that on Nov. 27, he obtained an order of protection against the suspect. The reporting officer attempted to contact the suspect; however, the phone call was not in violation of the order.

 

Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a controlled substance

 

Dec. 4

Police said that while on duty as a school resource officer at York High School at around 12:11 p.m., the reporting officer was advised that a suspect was in possession of a vape device that contained cannabis. The device was confiscated. The suspect was issued a peer jury date and time.

 

Dec. 3

Jesus Cabrera, 20, of Dolton, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cannabis, possession of open alcohol, driving while license suspended and tinted windows subsequent to a traffic stop near Butterfield and Prospect at around 11:36 a.m.

 

Dec. 1

Eric Burnett, 31, of Wheaton, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, aggravated DUI, DUI, improper lane usage and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and Route 83 at around 3:02 a.m. Burnett also was found to have a valid warrant from the Oak Park Police Department, police said. According to police, a search of Burnett yielded one pill of Ecstasy.

 

Nov. 29

Corsica Taylor, 20, of River Grove, was issued citations for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cannabis and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Indiana at around 11:34 p.m.

 

Nov. 27

Ildeberto Gomez, 20, of Melrose Park, was issued citations for possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Melrose at around 11:08 p.m.

Craig Kestner, 28, of Schaumburg, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, obstructing justice, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended, one headlight and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near I-290 and Lake at around 9:19 p.m. Police said Kestner attempted to throw a crack pipe to the ground and smash it with his foot. The suspect was also in possession of crack cocaine, according to police.

Dylan T. Smith, 28, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia in the 100 block of E. Butterfield at around 7:50 a.m.

 

Suspicious circumstances

 

Dec. 4

A reporting officer responded to the front lobby of a building in the 100 block of E. First at around 10:27 a.m. for reports of a male suspect removing his clothes. Upon arrival, the suspect was found lying in the east corner of the lobby. Police reportedly observed that the suspect had a half-empty bottle of vodka in his possession and was intoxicated. Medics responded and transported the suspect to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital for treatment.

 

Nov. 30

A reporting officer responded to the above location for a suspicious circumstances report near Euclid and Meister at around 6:38 a.m. Upon arrival, a complainant told police that during her morning run, she was almost struck by a vehicle that was delivering newspapers. The suspect yelled “Get your (expletive) off the road. I will run you over” and revved the vehicle’s engine and drove straight at the complainant. The complainant ran from the scene and called 911. An investigation is pending.

 

Nov. 23

A caretaker for a home in the 100 block of E. Columbia told police at around 1:14 p.m. it looked as if someone had been inside of the house. Upon arrival, officers observed that the basement window had been kicked in. The owner of the property believes her son made entry to the home and did not wish to pursue charges.

 

Theft/burglary/attempted theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery

 

Dec. 4

Residential burglary was reported in the 500 block of W. St. Charles at around 8:44 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect forced open the rear door to their apartment. Once inside, the suspect took numerous jewelry items. The scene was processed by an evidence technician.

 

Dec. 3

Retail theft was reported at a store in the 600 block of N. York at around 11:05 a.m. A complainant told police that there appeared to be an unusual amount of over the counter medications missing from the shelves. Upon reviewing store security cameras, the complainant observed two suspects removing large amounts of medications and hiding them inside their jackets. An investigation is pending. The first suspect was described as a white female in her early to mid-20s with sandy-blonde hair worn up in a bun, wearing a dark-colored

oversized winter jacket that had a fur-edged hood, with a gray-colored hoodie worn underneath the jacket. The second suspect was described as a white female in her early to mid-20s with long blonde hair, eyeglasses, wearing a dark-colored oversized winter jacket and gray boots.

 

Dec. 1

A complainant in the 500 block of S. York told police at around 12:51 a.m. that he was contacted via telephone by a suspect posing as a 7-Eleven corporate IT employee. The suspect requested the complainant to load a MoneyPak Green Dot gift card with cash and to provide the card number and the barcode number from the card. The complainant believed it was a legitimate request.

 

Nov. 30

 

Armed robbery was reported at a gas station in the 200 block of E. Butterfield at around 5:30 a.m. A complainant told police that two suspects entered the store and one displayed a black handgun. The suspects ordered the complainant into the back room and stole cash and cartons of cigarettes. An investigation is pending. One of the suspects was described as a black male in his early 20s wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a black scarf around his face, gloves, blue jeans and tan boots. The second suspect was described as a black male in his early 20s wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a red shirt, gloves, tan pants and black gym shoes.

 

Nov. 27-Nov. 29

Burglary to a vehicle and criminal damage to a vehicle were reported at a business in the 900 block of N. Industrial between the above dates. A complainant told police that an unknown suspect(s) punched the door locks on two of their work vans while they were parked in the business lot. Miscellaneous power tools were reportedly stolen from the two vehicles.

 

Nov. 28

Two incidents of burglary to a vehicle were reported in the 600 block of W. North at around 8:50 and 8:58 p.m., respectively. In the first incident, a victim told police that an unknown suspect broke the rear driver’s side window on his parked vehicle and removed a laptop. In the second incident, a victim told police that an unknown suspect removed numerous hand and power tools from the cargo area of his vehicle, which was parked at the above location.

 

Nov. 27

Identity theft was reported in the 700 block of S. Parkside at around 12:44 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown person(s) transferred $2,200 from her bank account into another account that was fraudulent. The account was frozen before the transfer was fully processed.

Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of W. 1st at around 4:05 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect changed her PayPal password and contact phone number, hacked into her Spotify account and then made fraudulent purchases on her Wal-Mart account. The victim is not out any money at this time.

Retail theft was reported at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 3:55 p.m. Police said an unknown suspect described as a black female between 25 and 35 years old, with a long pony tail, heavy set, wearing a red jacket and dark-colored pants was seen on camera filling her cart up with various Adidas® brand clothing items. The suspect then walked to the doors, picked up the clothing from her cart, and exited the store without paying.

 

Nov. 1-Nov. 21

Theft and forgery were reported in the 400 block of W. Butterfield. A victim told police that upon reviewing her bank statement, she learned that an unknown suspect(s) stole four checks from her checkbook sometime between the above dates. One of the checks was cashed. The account was closed. An investigation is pending.

 

Oct. 29

Retail theft was reported at a store in the 600 block of N. York at around 11:09 a.m. A complainant told police that his staff had advised him of a large shortage of over-the-counter products. Upon reviewing security footage, two female suspects were observed removing items from the shelves and hiding them under their winter jackets. An investigation is pending. One of the suspects was described as a white female between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall, between 25 and 35 years old with long blond hair, thick black-rimmed glasses, wearing a green ski hat and what appeared to be a long black goose down jacket with a white T-shirt underneath. The other suspect was described as a white female between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall with brown hair in a ponytail wearing an oversized goose down jacket with a gray sweatshirt and a black shirt underneath it.
