KAREN A. HAHN-VAN HOOSE
Karen A. Hahn-Van Hoose, age 78, of St. Charles, Illinois, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Blake Medical Center Hospital in Bradenton, Florida.
She was born October 21, 1941, in Elmhurst, Illinois, to Raymond and Libby (nee Josephus) Glenke, who preceded her in death, as well as her first husband, W. Kenneth Hahn.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” R. Van Hoose. She is also survived by her two children Allison (Robert Hess) Hahn and Bill (Beth) Hahn; her grandchildren: Emily Hess, Elaina, Keelyn, and Cade Hahn; her step-grandson, Steve Hess; and her step-great grandchildren, Arianna and Giovanni Hess. She is also survived by her stepchildren Scott (Michelle) Van Hoose and Wendy (Gabe) Delgado, and step-grandchildren Alanna and Roman Delgado. She is further survived by her sisters Lynn (Jim) Sides and Pam (Ray) Shelor.
Karen attended York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois, and graduated from the University of Illinois. She and one of her closest friends co-founded and ran the popular Gingerbread House Preschool in Lombard, Illinois. Karen was very active in the Lutheran Church throughout the years, especially with the TRI-Cs group, ringing bells, and singing in the choir. Karen had a soft spot in her heart for her grandchildren and looked forward to attending their many sporting and musical events and doing arts and crafts with them. Lastly, Karen had a tender heart for animals, especially her dog Trudy.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 14, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 101 South 6th Avenue, St. Charles. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace.

AUDREY MAE JONES
Audrey Mae Jones, age 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at home.
Audrey is survived by her husband, Jack Jones; and two daughters Polly Jones (Cally Raduenzel) and Kelli Jones (Daniel Sacharny); five grandchildren (Henry Schlueter, Sydney Schlueter, Jack Schlueter, Eva Fiallos and Lucia Fiallos); four great-grandchildren (Vinny, Jack, Maliya, Vera); and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents, brothers Paul (Lucille) and Dick (Yvonne) Buchholz; sister Francis (Bill) Gauspohl; her daughter, Kristin Schlueter; and two sons, David and John Jones.
Audrey was born in Glen Ellyn, on November 14, 1930, to Paul and Anna Buchholz. She was a graduate of Glenbard West High School. She married John “Jack” Jones on May 26, 1950. She was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom while also working part-time as a home-ec shopper and hall monitor at Willowbrook High School.
Audrey loved interior design and spent years antiquing and working on home renovation projects with her husband of 69 years. Together they amassed an impressive collection of antique fixtures, furniture and fire department paraphernalia. She and her husband enjoyed tandem bicycling and together they rode thousands of miles over the years. Audrey was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed every Cubs game, both at home or on family outings to Wrigley Field. She was a faithful Lutheran and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Audrey will be sorely missed by her husband, children and all that loved her.
A private funeral service is scheduled for after the first of the new year. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation is made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

LAVERNE STAHL
LaVerne McAra Stahl, age 100, of Lombard, passed away December 14, 2019.
LaVerne is survived by her loving children, Jeanne Stahl Eschenbrenner, Nancy Stahl (Mark) Smith, Lynda Stahl; her cherished grandchildren, Gregg (Melody Dawn) Eschenbrenner, Carrie Eschenbrenner Harmon, Garrett Smith, Jamie Smith, Lauren Smith (Lucas) Hakala; a great-granddaughter, Elisabeth Harmon.
LaVerne is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Joseph; parents James S. and Hilda G. McAra; two brothers, James McAra and Robert McAra; a sister, Hilda Gorman; and son-in-law, Daniel W. Eschenbrenner.
LaVerne was a resident of Lombard since 1951. She graduated in 1938 from Lucy Flower High School in Chicago. During WWII, LaVerne worked on testing airplane carburetors. She was an avid seamstress who enjoyed creating wedding attire for family and friends. LaVerne was a 60-year member of DuPage County Home Extension, where she taught sewing to 4-H members and judged 4-H projects at the DuPage County Fair. She was a Past Guardian of Job’s Daughters Bethel #71.
