The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Assault, battery
Sept. 10
A victim reported, through an nurse at Elmhurst Hospital, that she believes a suspect drugged and sexually assaulted her. The alleged assault is reported to have occurred in Melrose Park. Melrose Park Police Department was notified of the complaint.
A victim in the 700 block of W. Lake told police at around 6:17 p.m. that while he was at work at a car dealership, he was fired and told to leave the property. While the victim was gathering his personal items, he was approached by a suspect, who allegedly grabbed the victim by the arm and poked the victim several times. The victim reportedly pushed the suspect to the ground and then left the property.

Sept. 8
A victim in the 600 block of S. Mitchell told police at around 4 p.m. that the suspect has been told multiple times to stay away from the residence. On the above date, the victim found the suspect inside of her home. The suspect was told to leave the premises. The victim did not wish to sign complaints.
Sept. 6-Sept. 7
The manager of a gas station in the 600 block of W. North told police at around 9:02 a.m. that an unknown suspect(s) damaged three gas pump display screens with an unknown object. The manager contacted loss prevention to retrieve video surveillance and will provide that to the officer once received.

Sept. 11
An 18-year-old Villa Park man was charged with domestic battery at Elmhurst Hospital at around 12:45 p.m. A victim told police that while she was in a hospital bed, the suspect became angry with her for texting another man. The suspect allegedly grabbed the victim by the neck. A nurse intervened and the suspect left the hospital.
A complainant in the 900 block of S. Riverside told police at around 6:11 p.m. that while at a pool area, she was confronted by her ex-boyfriend who reportedly grabbed her by her upper arms and shook her. The complainant advised that the suspect did not strike her and she was not injured as a result of the confrontation. The complainant did not wish to pursue complaints.

Sept. 11
David Martinez, 50, of Elburn, was charged with aggravated driving while license revoked, obstructing identification, illegal transportation of alcohol, obstructing a police officer, illegally tinted windows and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Poplar and Huntington at around 10:05 a.m.
Sept. 8
Bradley Hoebel, 46, of Elmwood Park, was charged with speeding, failure to signal, improper lane usage, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Route 83 at around 1:16 a.m.
Audel Villafuerte-Mor, 53, of Aurora, was charged with DUI, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance, no valid registration and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Villa at around 11:48 p.m.
Sept. 6
Humberto Bringas, 26, of Chicago, was charged with DUI and possession of cannabis suspect to the suspect being located in his running vehicle allegedly asleep near First and Elm at around 10:33 p.m.
Mark G. Salomon, 27, of Lisle, was charged with DUI subsequent to the driver allegedly sleeping behind the wheel and found to be DUI in the 200 block of N. Addison at around 5:38 a.m.
Harassment, threats
Sept, 10-Sept. 11
A victim told police that she has received 16 harassing phone calls in the past two days. There is no caller I.D. information and the victim does not recognize the caller’s voice.
Sept. 10
According to police, after being tailgated while traveling southbound on Route 83 at around 1 p.m., a complainant exited his vehicle, approached the suspect and advised him to stop tailgating. The suspect opened his door, reportedly pushed the complainant, and attempted to punch the complainant. The suspect then got back into his vehicle and left the scene. The suspect is described as a white male, around 5’9”, 180 pounds, in his 30s with brown hair and a beard, a medium build and wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.
Sept. 6
A victim in the 900 block of N. Oaklawn told police at around 10:22 a.m. that a suspect had been calling her work and cell phone threatening her. The suspect reportedly showed up to the victims workplace and, when approached by the reporting officer, he allegedly started using profanity towards the officer and drove off. A warrant was issued for harassment through electronic communication devices.

Alan Batek, 20, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis at Elmhurst College at around 12:01 a.m.
Sept. 7
Maria T. Ramirez-Castro, 18, of Warrenville, was issued citations for possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding and no insurance, while Jessica Neubeck, 18, of Aurora, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis subsequent to a traffic stop near Grand and York at around 8:39 a.m.
Sept. 3
Police said that subsequent to a traffic crash in the 600 block of W. Babcock, Luis A. Toral, 37, of Addison, attempted to flee on foot from the scene. The reporting officer took Toral into custody. According to police, Toral was found to have a white paper substance in his mouth, which tested positive for PCP. Toral is pending charges for possession of a controlled substance, resisting a police officer, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, failure to aid or give information, improper overtaking on the left, failure to give aid or information after striking an unattended motor vehicle and no insurance, and was released.

Sept. 11
A loss prevention member at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 alerted a reporting officer of a possible retail theft in progress at around 5:43 p.m. The reporting officer observed the suspect place merchandise in a shopping cart. The suspect received a cell phone call, and then abandoned the cart and merchandise. The suspect made a small purchase and left the store to an waiting vehicle. The suspect was detained, questioned, and was released without charges.

Sept. 9-Sept. 10
Theft was reported in the 100 block of N. York. A victim told police that approximately one year ago he brought his DJI Inspire 1 Pro drone to a store for repair. The victim reports the store has closed and the location of his drone is unknown. The matter is under investigation.
July 21-Sept. 10
Identity theft was reported in the 500 block of W. Third. A victim told police that he was contacted by the State of Illinois about an unknown suspect using his Social Security number to file an Illinois income tax return. The victim reported the fraud to the state and the transaction was denied.
Sept. 9
Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of N. York at around 5:51 p.m. Police said an unknown suspect used a victim’s debit card information to place an online order at a restaurant. The suspect later picked up the food order in person. The victim believes her debit card information had been compromised at a Mobil station in Westmont.
Feb. 4-Sept. 9
A complainant in the 600 block of W. North told police that a suspect came into a currency exchange to cash a check for himself from his business account. The complainant ran the check several
times and the checks came back with insufficient funds. The complainant tried to make contact with the suspect several times with no results.
Sept. 8
A victim in the 300 block of W. Lake told police at around 2:47 p.m. that he bought concert tickets from a suspect describe as an Hispanic male between the ages of 20 and 25, around 5’6” and 150 pounds, through the online app Offer Up. The victim and suspect met at a location and exchanged cash for one of the tickets. There was a $200 online transaction for the other. When the victim went to the event, he found the tickets to be invalid. The victim contacted Offer Up, which advised him to make a police report.
Sept. 7
Corey Murray, 29, of Rockford, was charged with forgery, unlawful possession of a fraudulent identification card and resisting a police officer at a car dealership in the 200 block of W. Grand at around 2:32 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a forgery in progress, Murray was found to have completed and signed a loan credit application using a false name and driver’s license. According to police, Murray fled from the scene and officers. The suspect was located a short time later in a garbage dumpster, police said.
Theft of services was reported in the 300 block of W. Butterfield at around 3:55 a.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect described as a white male was taken by taxi from Chicago to Elmhurst, exited the vehicle and fled north on Spring Road without paying the fare. The area was checked with no results.
Sept. 6
Christ Sarris, 39, and Steven J. Daly, 47, both of Chicago, were charged with burglary and retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 7:43 p.m. Police said the two suspects took two vacuum cleaners and fled the store without paying. Both suspects were located and take into custody.
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 300 block of Route 83 at around 3:09 p.m. A complainant told police that she observed two suspects described as black males enter the store, allegedly take items off the rack and go into the dressing room. The complainant observed one of the suspects leave the store with items past the point of sale. The complainant was able to get the merchandise back, but the suspects fled the scene in a beige minivan. The area was checked with no results.
Identity theft was reported in the 200 block of Elmhurst at around 4 p.m. A victim told police that she received a text message from Capital One asking to verify two charges made to Rockauto.com. The victim stated she did not make these charges and also noticed several other transaction attempts. Capital One has opened an investigation.
A victim in the 300 block of S. Route 83 responded to an online posting regarding an apartment unit for rent. The victim was instructed to deposit cash into an account at Wells Fargo Bank. The victim made the deposit and was informed the keys would be shipped to him. The keys never arrived and the victim became suspicious. The victim was able to locate the legitimate owner of the property and learned he had been defrauded.
Sept. 3
Theft was reported at a nail salon in the 500 block of W. North at around 11:02 a.m. A complainant told police that three suspects described as black females came into the nail salon on the above date and received services. One of the suspects paid for the services with a debit card. The business was notified by letter that the charges had been denied because the use of the debit card was fraudulent.
Aug. 31
Theft was reported in the 200 block of N. Addison at around 10:55 p.m. A victim told police that his ex-fiancé allegedly removed numerous personal items of his from his apartment without permission. The reporting officer attempted to contact the suspect with no results at this time.
Aug. 15
Identity theft was reported in the 300 block of E. Lexington at around 12:23 p.m. A victim told police an unknown suspect(s) opened a Best Buy Citicard account on the above date under her name and made a purchase. The victim filled out an affidavit for Citicard and will not be responsible for the fraudulent charges.
