Library holds LEGO® DUPLO® program for younger children
The Villa Park Public Library is hosting a LEGO® DUPLO® Build + Play session from 10-10:30 a.m. Children ages 2-5 and their adults can join in to build, play, and socialize with other kids and families. Paws on the Path
Enjoy a day on Villa Park’s Prairie Path with your pup from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Ruggard Gazebo, Ardmore Avenue and Park Boulevard. Paws on the Path hosts local pet rescues and vendors for a day of pet-filled fun. Whether you want to show off your furry friend or are looking for a new forever pal, Paws on the Path is a fun-filled, fur fest! The event will include rescues/shelters with adoptable animals, vendors, a kids activity tent, live music, dog-friendly games and prizes, and a pet costume contest! Dog and cat food will also be collected for a shelter pet food drive.

Free movies showing at Cortesi Park Mondays through Aug. 12
The Villa Park Public Library, Friends of the Villa Park Library and Villa Park’s Parks and Recreation department are pleased to co-sponsor Movies in the Park on Mondays through Aug. 12 at approximately 8 p.m. The Aug. 5 movies is The Secret Life of Pets, while the Lego Movie will be shown Aug. 12. All are invited to bring a lawn chair or a picnic blanket to enjoy a movie outdoors on the big screen at Cortesi Veterans Memorial Park (near Kenilworth and Villa avenues). Concessions will be available for purchase. In the event of inclement weather on one of the movie dates, the decision to change the location of the event will be made no later than 4:30 p.m. and the movie will be held at the Iowa Community Center (338 N Iowa Ave.). Friends of the Library sponsoring weekly craft table every Thursday through Aug. 29
Young children and their adults are invited to join the Villa Park Public Library and the Friends of the Villa Park Library at the weekly Concerts at Cortesi Park this summer to make a fun craft. Crafty Creations @ Concerts at Cortesi will be held every Thursday through Aug 29 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Cortesi Park, near Kenilworth and Villa avenues. Pickleball for adults now open
Villa Park Recreation now offers Pickleball for adults both as classes and as a drop-in program at the Iowa Community Center, 338 N. Iowa. Join the Pickleball craze and sign up to play this fun game that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong. Pickleball players use wooden paddles and whiffle balls to play on a badminton-sized court with a slightly modified tennis net. It is a low-impact sport and easier on the knees and shoulders than tennis and is a recreational game that is designed to encourage an active lifestyle. Drop-in play is available on Tuesdays, 7:45-9:45 p.m., Saturdays, 12 noon-2 p.m. and Fridays, 3-5 p.m. The drop-in fee is $3 resident and non-resident. Swim lessons available through Addison Park District
Do you miss swimming outdoors? Parks and Recreation offers indoor swim lessons in cooperation with the Addison Park District. Classes are available on Saturday mornings and Tuesday and Thursday evenings for swimmers with all levels of swim experience and include parent/tot classes. Register with the Recreation Department; lessons are held at the Club Fitness Indoor Pool, 1776 W. Centennial Place in Addison. VFW Friday Night Fish Fry
From 5:30-8 p.m. every Friday evening, the Villa Park VFW Post #2801, 39 E. St. Charles Road, holds its Fish Fry. Menu available for purchase includes fried shrimp, fish/shrimp combos, beef/sausage sandwiches, combos and hot dogs.
Widows or Widowers meeting
