Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Assault, battery

June 22
A victim in the 100 block of N. Addison told police at around 10 p.m. that after an argument with an unknown male, the suspect grabbed him by his shirt and put him on the ground. The victim was unable to identify a possible suspect. The victim suffered no injuries.

Criminal damage

June 26
A reporting officer responded for the complaint of glass breaking in the 100 block of Robert Palmer Drive at around 5:21 p.m. The officer observed six first floor windows broken and shards of glass were lying around the damaged areas. The Elmhurst Park District was notified.

June 25
A complainant—the owner of a business in the 200 block of W. Lake — told police at around 7:35 a.m. that one of his employee’s vehicles was broken into on June 24. The passenger side right rear quarter panel glass window was damaged. Nothing appeared to be missing.

June 19-June 24
According to police, while checking the area underneath the Salt Creek Bridge over St. Charles Road, a complainant discovered spray paint along the walls of the bridge.

Disorderly conduct

June 26
Michael Thomas, 38, of Oak Park, was charged with disorderly conduct in the 100 block of W. Butterfield at around 8:22 p.m. and also was wanted out of DuPage County for two warrants, according to police.

June 23
Christopher Freeman, 18, of Elmhurst, was charged with disorderly conduct-public intoxication, possession of alcohol by a minor and consumption of alcohol by a minor near York and the Prairie Path at around 3:22 p.m.

June 21
Victor Thigpen, 61, of Maywood, was charged with disorderly conduct in the 200 block of E. North at around 4:05 a.m. Police said officers responded to a complaint of a suspect banging on the windows of the residence. According to police, officers located Thigpen at North and Addison and found him to be in possession of a hammer.

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disturbance

June 25
A victim in the 100 block of Melrose told police at around 4:35 p.m. that during a verbal argument with her boyfriend he allegedly pushed her, but was unable to show officers where or how he pushed her. The suspect denied pushing the victim and related the argument was only verbal. The suspect left the house for the night.

June 20
A 20-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with two counts of domestic battery and unlawful interference with the reporting of a domestic incident in the 200 block of S. Villa at around 4:46 p.m.

June 21
A victim near Walnut and Third told police at around 12:17 a.m. that the suspect dropped off the victim and she would not let him retrieve his property from her vehicle. Both were made aware that the incident would be documented and the victim could retrieve his property in the morning.

June 20
A 22-year-old Maywood woman was charged with domestic battery in the 500 block of E. Grand at around 9:27 a.m. A complainant told police he observed the victim and suspect arguing outside. The suspect was observed allegedly punching the victim in the face and chest several times. The suspect admitted to striking the victim, according to police.

June 28
Ryan Fowler, 30, of Nottingham, England, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and York at around midnight.

June 26
David Bernheart, 38, of Franklin, Mass., was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and making an improper turn subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Lake at around 12:13 a.m.

June 24
Edward Pedote, 20, of Elmhurst, was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor in the 500 block of S. York at around 2:55 a.m.

June 23
Michelle Militello, 51, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near West and North at around 12:17 a.m.

June 22
Cesar Garcia, 35, of Addison, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage and no valid driver’s license subsequent to a traffic stop in the 600 block of W. Grand at around 2:05 a.m.
Rafael Garcia, 34, of Cicero, was charged with DUI, no seat belt and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Melrose at around 2:30 a.m.
Steven Harris, 25, of Chicago, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Willow at around 1:19 a.m.

Harassment, threats

June 25
A victim in the 1200 block of S. York told police at around 1:17 p.m. that a suspect sent her several threatening text messages. Police said the suspect admitted to sending the text messages because he was angry. The suspect was advised to have no further contact with the victim.
A victim in the 200 block of W. St. Charles told police at around 8:51 p.m. that her ex-husband had left threatening voicemails on her phone. The suspect was contacted and denied leaving any voicemails. The suspect was advised not to have any further contact with the victim.

June 22
A complainant at a restaurant in the 400 block of N. York told police at around 9:57 p.m. that an unknown man called the pizzeria threatening them. An investigation is pending.

Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a
controlled substance, possession of alternative nicotine product

June 27
Shon Abraham, 32, of Des Plaines, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Berteau at around 12:08 a.m.
Angelo Roberts, 27, of Chicago, a passenger in a vehicle, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis and no seat belt near Highland and North at around 1:21 a.m., Eunique Jackson-Bell, 24, of Chicago, was possession of an unlawfully altered driver’s license and no seat belt.

June 23
Brandon Lawson, 26, of Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis, driving while license suspended, no valid registration, failure to signal and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and North at around 12:31 a.m.
Michelle Rubio, 30, of Northlake, was charged with possession of cannabis, no front license plate and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Second at around 1:20 a.m.

June 22
Rodolfo Gallardo, 27, of Aurora, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and no seat belt subsequent to a traffic stop near Palmer and York at around 5:15 p.m.
Haley Mott, 20, of Elmhurst, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near West and First at around 4:08 p.m.

June 21
Angel Garcia, 28, of Joliet, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, speeding and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and 2nd at around 11:48 p.m.
Davontae Smith, 21, of Willowbrook, was charged with possession of cannabis, driving while license suspended and no seat belt, while Devin Smith, 18, of Willowbrook and Deasia Williams, 19, of Bolingbrook—both passengers in the vehicle—were issued citations for possession of cannabis and no seat belt subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Route 83 at around 7:01 p.m.

Prowling

June 27
Eric Briggs, 44, of Chicago, was charged with prowling in the 100 block of W. Park at around 2:21 a.m. Police said officers responded for a domestic stand by. Briggs was instructed to stay where he was, according to police, but a short time later, he was found on their private property.

Suspicious circumstances

June 22
Police said the parent of juvenile victims told police at around 8:51 a.m. that the victims were operating a lemonade stand in front of their residence when they were approached by a suspect who was riding a bicycle. The suspect, described as a white male in his 60s with a skinny build, wearing a blue T-shirt, grey shorts and a backpack, asked the victims their names, ages, and other personal information. The suspect then left the area.

June 16-June 20
A complainant at a church in the 700 block of N. Lombard told police that on June 20, an unknown worker found a threatening note on a chair as they were cleaning up after services from June 16. It looks as if a child wrote the message.

Theft/burglary/attempted theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery

June 26
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 900 block of N. Virginia at around 12:48 p.m. A victim told police they were working in the area. A coworker observed a Ford F150 and a suspect described as a black male enter the victim’s vehicle on the passenger side. The suspect got into a Jeep and drove south bound on Virginia. The victim went to his truck and found his wallet missing.
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 700 block of S. York at around 5:28 p.m. A victim told police he parked his landscaping truck in a church parking lot and he and his crew completed yard work. When he returned to his truck his black backpack was no longer behind the driver seat. The victim was advised by his bank of a transaction and the victim advised them that he had not made the purchase.

June 25
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 900 block of Chatham at around 8:05 a.m. A victim told police that sometime between 12:30 and 6 a.m., an unknown suspect(s) entered her unlocked Ford Escape, which was parked in the driveway and removed a radio charger from the center console. Nothing else was noted missing. In the 700 block of S. Chatham between June 24 and June 25, a victim told police that unknown suspects entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and removed a pair of sunglasses. In the 800 block of S. Chatham between June 24 and June 25, an unknown suspect(s) entered a victim’s vehicle and removed a radar detector and a cell phone charging cord. The radar detector was located by a resident a few blocks away.
Theft was reported in the 100 block of Maple at around 10:41 a.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) removed his power washer from the backyard. The victim checked his security cameras and observed a male white/Hispanic walks past his back door and up to the power washer. He then disconnected it from the house and placed it into an older model pick-up truck.
Theft was reported in the 100 block of E. Wilson at 1:25 p.m. A victim told police that while working at the above location, unknown suspect removed his tool bag that was left in the open garage. The suspect left the area in a gray
Nissan.

June 24
Theft was reported at Elmhurst College at around 11:53 a.m. A victim told police that two computers were stolen from the science building. Both computers were entered in to LEADS as stolen.

June 22-June 24
A victim in the 900 block of S. Riverside told police that an unknown suspect stole his locked truck/tractor from a storage lot sometime between the above dates. The owner was able to track the GPS signal to an address in Bolingbrook where the victim located the abandoned vehicle. The vehicle showed evidence of forced entry.

June 23
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 2:22 p.m. Police said the complainant, security with Kohl’s, related while reviewing surveillance footage he observed two suspects—one a white male and the other a black male—take two Vacuum cleaners and left the store without paying for the items. The suspects were seen entering a black Jeep Cherokee.
Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of N. Evergreen at around 5:04 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) obtained the victim’s Target Red Credit Card and made unauthorized charges.

June 19-June 20
Burglary was reported at the Elmhurst City Garage in the 900 block of Riverside Drive. A complainant told police that unknown suspects cut the locks on two landscaping trailers and removed three leaf blowers and one chain saw sometime between the above dates.

June 13-June 20
A victim in the 700 block of S. Swain told police at around 5:17 p.m. that he received a letter from the Unites States Post Office stating he recently changed his address from his residence in Elmhurst to an address in Chicago sometime between the above dates. The victim related he did not authorize this change and cancelled the request.

June 2-June 8
Theft was reported in the 500 block of E. Park. Police said that an unknown suspect removed the front license plate from his vehicle sometime between the above dates. The victim noticed the theft two weeks ago while at his church in Villa Park. The victim is not sure where the theft occurred.

Violation of an order of protection

June 25
Nicholas Bender, 26, of Elmhurst, was charged with violation of an order of protection in the 800 block of N. Willow at around 4 p.m.

Warrant arrest

June 22
Police said Reni Cardona, 37, of Franklin Park, was found to be wanted out of Lake County subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Poplar at around 1:09 a.m.

June 21
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Industrial and Grand at around 8:52 p.m., Darnell Wilson, 39, of Chicago, was found to be wanted out of Cook County, and provided officers with a false name and date of birth. Additionally, Wilson was found to be in possession of cannabis. He was charged with obstructing identification driving while license suspended, expired registration and no insurance.

June 20
Police said that subsequent to a warrant service, Patrick Shaw, 26, of Elmhurst, was found to have two valid warrants out of DuPage County in 500 block of Fern at around 3:32 p.m.
