‘Game Truck’ at Villa Park Library June 25
Game Truck is making a stop at the Villa Park Public Library parking lot on Tuesday, June 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. Awesome adventures await inside this giant truck, which is packed with high-definition TVs, a long row of comfy seats and tons of gaming consoles and controllers. This program is open to children and teenagers ages 6 to 18 and is sponsored by the Friends of the Villa Park Library. Chair PiYo in York Center
PiYo™ is a blend of Yoga, Pilates and more done to some great tunes. The poses are modified so that they can be done while seated in a chair or standing behind a chair for added support. These adaptations make PiYo™ accessible to people of all abilities, who want to improve muscle tone and strength. Additional modifications are provided as needed. Participants also work with resistance bands and light weights to promote toning of the arms and legs. The entire body is targeted during this routine. This class is designed to make you stronger, improve your balance, promote better breathing habits and reduce stress levels-all while having a good time. Ages 18 and up. Ham radio club field day June 22-23
In a 24-hour blitz that will include nationwide radio communications, the Elmhurst-based York Radio Club will operate at least three radio stations from the Elmhurst Fire Department Training Facility, 910 N. Addison, on Saturday and Sunday, June 22-23. The operation will be part of Amateur Radio Field Day that’s designed to test emergency preparedness. DuPage Symphony Orchestra at Cantigny June 22
DuPage Symphony Orchestra Saturday, June 22, 7:30 p.m. Celebrate the Summer Solstice as the DSO performs lively and colorful music from the Land of the Midnight Sun, including works by Grieg, Nielsen, Sibelius and Alfven. The DuPage Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Music Director Barbara Schubert. No tickets are needed for these “Ravinia style” concerts, performed outside the First Division Museum. ‘Baseballs From a Farm!’ program at VP Library
America can thank a farmer for their favorite pastime. Just one cowhide can make 144 baseballs, and wool from sheep is used to make the stitching. Children ages 6 to 9 can learn these and many more interesting facts at the Villa Park Public Library’s “Baseballs From a Farm!” on Monday, June 24, from 2:30-3 p.m. This program will be held off-site at the Community Recreation Building (320 E.
