Garden plots still available in Villa Park
Villa Park’s Community Garden plots are available now purchase for the season. Only a few plots remain open. Anyone who has a green thumb or wants to try their hand at gardening is welcome to purchase a plot. Garden plots will be available for planting starting mid-May and the complete fall clean-up needs to be done by Oct.31. The Garden plots and are located at Westmore Park (between Westmore and Biermann off of Plymouth). The fee to reserve a 10’ x 10’ plot is just $10. Plots are sold on a first-come, first-served basis at the Iowa Community Center, 338 N. Iowa. Call 630-834-8970 with any questions.

RRAF Jewelry Sale June 7-8

Fishing derby June 9
Anglers 15 and under are invited to drop a line at the annual “Just for Kids Fishing Derby” on Sunday, June 9 from 8 a.m. to noon at Silver Lake at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Blackwell Forest Preserve in Warrenville. This free family-friendly event awards prizes in four age categories to anglers who catch the largest of three types of fish or who win the casting contest. The awards and a raffle are announced at the end of the program. Families can register for the Just for Kids Fishing Derby online 24/7, through Visitor Services at 630-933-7248 weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or at the event. Throughout the morning, anglers can also talk with Forest Preserve District fishing pros about tips and tricks for fishing DuPage waters. Reality Illinois/The Teen Board to meet this summer
Teens are invited on June 11 at 10:45 a.m. at the College of DuPage for the first meeting of the new school year for Reality Illinois/The Teen Board to the DuPage County Health Department. At the “Philanthroparty,” participants will celebrate some Reality wins over the past year (passing Tobacco 21 legislation to limit sales of tobacco to those under 21), play with comfort dogs, hear from a local teen on how to take an idea for positive change into action, and create signs with positive messages that will be posted throughout high schools in DuPage County. Battle of the telescopes at Villa Park Library
Will the mighty Hubble Telescope ever be eclipsed? The Villa Park Public Library will attempt to find out at “Hubble vs. Webb: Space Telescopes” on Monday, June 3, from 10:30-11:15 a.m. Learn about the new James Webb Telescope and delve deep into the differences between the two space scopes. D-Day program at Cantigny June 6
The First Division Museum at Cantigny Park will commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day on Thursday, June 6. A full day of commemorative “D-Day 75” activities is planned for all ages. Dodgeball in York Center
Dodge, duck, dive, dip and dodge. Bring your team to play dodgeball at the YCPD gymnasium. Participants will play a variety of dodgeball games including the classic. Friends fundraiser June 7
The Friends of the Villa Park Library will hold their next Dine-Out fundraiser on Friday, June 7 from 1-6 p.m. at Las Isla Marias (31 W. North Ave.) in Villa Park. If customers bring in a printed flier or show the flier to the cashier on their smartphones, Las Islas Marias will give back 15 percent of the proceeds from this date and time to the Friends. Money received from this Dine-Out will help the Friends support various programs and services at the Villa Park Public Library.
