ISABEL GIBSON IWANOWSKI
Isabel (Liz) Gibson Iwanowski, born February 19, 1943, in Hartford, Connecticut, departed this world on February 26, 2019.
Isabel graduated from Highland Park High School on June 14, 1962. She then attended Augustana Hospital School of Nursing, graduating second in her class on July 31, 1962. She received her Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees from The College of Saint Francis in May 1979. She was one of the first licensed Nurse Practitioners in the State of Illinois.
After working at Augustana Hospital, Gottlieb Hospital and Rush Hospital, Isabel settled on working as an industrial nurse in private practice specializing in risk management. She retired from the Great Lakes United States Postal Service in 2011, to spend time golfing and traveling with her husband, George Iwanowski, who predeceased her in May 2013.
Isabel is survived by her brothers, Guy Gibson of Geneseo, Illinois, Ralph Gibson, of Largo, Florida; her sister, Martha Gibson McGinnis, Lombard; her nieces, Rebekah Lazar of Lombard; Michelle Gibson of East Moline, Illinois; Jenell Smith of Camarillo, California; her nephews, Adam McGinnis of West New York, New Jersey, Robert Gibson of Silverdale, Washington and Tim (John) Gibson of Buckley, Washington. She is predeceased by her brother, John (Woody) Gibson of Camarillo, California.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 8, from 8:30 a.m. until time of prayers at 9:30 a.m. from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Sacred Heart Church, 114 S. Elizabeth, Lombard, for 10 a.m. Mass.
The burial will take place immediately following the Mass at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Wolf Road, Hillside.
